i dont get it? i thought that if you had a website popular enough, you can call a big corp., make a deal with them to advertise on your site, and start making a pretty good living wage. i mean isnt that how facebook first got started? who has seen the facebook movie? anyways i know this is shooting for the stars and i know im probably not going to be bigger then facebook lol but i thought thats how it could work? not some 50$ a month to advertise on my site? wtf em i missing something here?

What you're talking about is getting your site in the top 1000 Alexa if you really want to aim for the big corporations.
Facebook was not built based on future revenues stream. It was first a social media/social service that fit some needs of the population.

Build something interesting. Make people need you, then you can start thinking about monetizing.
