Taxation.

Fair enough, if I have a proper break tomorrow I'll find something, if you're genuinely interested. I have no reason to lie about papers existing.

Keynes (and Smith too actually) always said that Economics couldn't be looked at solely as a science. To me, it's more a humanity based subject supported by science. Keynes and Smith had reasons for both.
As a MOD you'll be able to see I even edited my post, correcting from "analysis" to "evaluation" where suggestions are made that COULD be, rather than 'are or aren't'.
Never, never ever justify yourself to anyone. When you justify your debate, you have lost it.

Everything outside the scientific methods lies at the realm of religion. I am not interested in religion and have no opinion on non-scientific discourses.

I don't understand this. Humanity is not subject to scientific research but somehow out of its realm?

Keynes and Smith had reasons for both.

Doesn't matter, science is not person centered. To give you an idea, Smith was a proponent of the labor theory of value* which was laughed out of history forever some time later and Keynes was utterly discredited during the stagflation period which was "impossible to happen". Not to mention the absurdity his theory is based on, that consumption comes before production.

* He wasn't responsible for it, it was a very old theory - he just went along.

I assume you mean religion quite broadly in the way that it relates to morality and behaviour? There I would agree, although with human behaviour not being binary, subjects like politics and economics can't be treated as such.

The humanities as in the range of subjects including History, Geography and often Economics; where the answer is not as definite and opinion is considered, as I hinted above.

Oh I know, I was not saying I agreed nor disagreed with either of their theories, only that they both considered Economics to be a study of more than just science.

The same concept of economics is gladly not limited to just taxes, but any sort of demand which has a cost. Something with no cost is often perceived as cheap otr a scam, while something outrageously expensive is obviously not worth the cost. By making a product cheaper overall revenue(and sometimes sales) can drop dramatically.

Taxes= Armed extortion of your property.

They used to justify collecting taxes in the name of the king because he was acting in good faith of the church, therefore making him a agent of the direct channel to God, the Pope.
Giving him the right to send soldiers to the peasants home and take from them from the tip of a sword.

Now they justify it as extortion for social justice.

taxes don't matter to criminals, they only act to control the wealth of the people.

Anything that can not be proven by means of use of logic's rule set. If there is no way to go from A to B via a set of rules, any discussion is pointless since it decays to a "who's voice is more popular" contest.

The answer is definite in all of them, it's just a matter of arriving to it. Historical events happened. Landscape exists. The economy functions. All we have to do is study them.

Your latest post has been removed.

Are you seriously trying to troll a thread I'm involved in such a blatant way the same day you were wondering about how long you're going to last before you get banned by infractions? Like, really?

I was once at the very bottom of society but the government fed and educated me. So not pre paid - post paid. What would I be without a social safety net? All I'm saying is, it needs to be balanced with efficiency and investment and everything will trickle up;) Max rate should never be more than 50% and avg about 25%.
According to wiki the top of the curve is 70% - Madness!

Good point.

But I paid more in tax last year than the average person earns in the UK.

Fuck this country, its nothing short of theft what they are doing. The entire UK media have a "oh lets hate rich people" agenda and its disgusting.

85% of millionaires are self made, they were born with nothing.

They are hating on people because someone made their life a success while they sat at home watching YouTube wondering why they are not rich.

Fuck that noise. It makes my blood boil.

It was not trolling, I truly believe what I said.

If you cannot support yourself, its your fault.

In a first world country like the UK, everyone can make something of their lives. If they did not take advantage of the free education and opportunities presented to them that's the consequence they face for being lazy lay abouts.

I'm not judging your content, I am judging the expressions. Tone it down if you want your posts to stick. I don't see what's the point of you posting things that have to receive administrative action.

It's the extreme wealth gap the taxes cause that create a 'bottom' of society to begin with.

Benjamin Franklin seen this coming long ago

Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

THE POWER IS IN THE PEOPLE.

Edit by Jazzc: Try to not make us close the thread...

Because everyone produces the same value and there is a conspiracy to reward people differently in an arbitrary way? :)
No, not at all. I believe that there should be a wage gap. It's surely logic of the most simple kind that a difference in wages and living standards is necessary for there to be an incentive to improve oneself, right? To consequentlydrive that economic growth you were asking for earlier...

The causes for the wage gap whether they should or shouldn't exist is something else and wage discrimination, something else again.

Do you disagree that the difference between peoples' disposable incomes is most affected by their wage?

In Ukraine there is a saying.
If you steal $100 you are a criminal.
If you steal $1,000,000 you are a politician.

Why will a son of ditch digger in India earn 1B times less than my son?
Anyone with self belief, an internet connection, eagerness and half a brain can do very well in this world.
Looking for someone to blame for your crap wages? - BLAME YOURSELF!
Your wages are limited by you alone.
