Super EMD Live SEO TLD Case Study - Will It Rank in Google?

Ranking for your exact brand name should be #1 with no problem at all unless your brand name is not unique, those weird tlds are jut that weird i dont't like them

Did you read it? It's not a "brand name". It's a generic search phrase, which I'm attempting to turn into my brand by using the new TLDs. Ranking for a commercial keyword that gets thousands of searches a month is not "no problem at all".

Started to make some sales on Amazon and a few clicks on Adsense

There is little to test IMO, since the last algo change EMD's have only got more powerful. And if you can utilize the TDL to turn an already strong EMD like 'goldrolex.com" into "goldrolex.watch" then all the better.

That's the whole idea behind testing. Everyone has ideas and opinions. The point of this is to put money, time, effort, and transparency into it. I'm beginning to think .coms are still the strongest/easiest to rank so your philosophy of ranking for something solely on this strategy might be off the mark. Then again, that's the point of this test. Anyone can say, "yes it will rank" or "no it won't" and proceed to blur out the actual website, results, etc in the guise of a true live case study...I denounce those as "case studies" along with opinions that are nothing more than conjecture.

I would say in some cases TLDs are better option than EMD( follow the post @ThopHayt) but in most cases they are not, as yet.

Cool approach, but could you tell us how many PBN links, you know PBN have high influence on ranking.
Have you tried any New Tld without PBN or this does "Wolverine Toys" site ranked before using PBN link?

Totally agree, I am interested to see how this experiment plays out too but PBN will ruin it, as it will rank no matter what. with the boost of a good PBN...

thanks but I think you just contradicted yourself here? Are you saying I should or should not use PBNs for this? Btw, it's a very small part of the marketing plan for this domain

your case study is boring because u didn't disclouse the competition of your keyword. Some might bought an EMD and done zero link building, still ranked #5 in page one :P

Let me shove the spoon a little deeper in your mouth since you refuse to do anything with what I've shown you. You can check the competition because everything is 100% transparent; btw it's listed as "HIGH" according to Google adwords. It's competitive in the sense that it's an ecommerce (buying keyword phrase), has Google adwords bidders, and is usurping Amazon, Toys R Us, Youtube, and other hard to beat trusted domains.

A keyword that gets 2,900 exact searches a month (ultra targeted buying keyword) is lucrative and has competition because there is money to be made.

The website is now making daily income (passive) from both Adsense and Amazon affiliate program.

First page was a "success" to show that a .toys domain could rank. As far as I know it's the only legit .toys domain ranking organically, at least in terms of an open case study. The issue is many of the new TLDs were released but SEOs and others were too afraid to adopt them, because .coms, .org, .net, .co ruled the roost for so long. The goal of this case study was to show it could rank in Google on the first page, and maybe even better (as a Super EMD) than a .com, as we now see it at #3

The website is also on page 1 of Google for various other ecommerce phrases.

The fact that you are bored with a ground breaking live case study with ranking a new TLD SEO case study shows your lack of passion in this industry. You represent the worst in this industry. A hater on the sidelines. Perhaps you can create your own live case study and reveal your tactics to enlighten everyone how you ranked an ecommerce website. It's not an EMD either, it's a Super EMD because the TLD is attached. And good luck with beating out youtube, amazon, toys r us, with an EMD with 0 links. 2007 wants its tactics back. Normally don't feed trolls but since you needed to be spoon fed all the details I mine as well shove some more down your throat.

I am surprised if it is already ranking with no major backlinks. Sorry if I missed part of the journey

I think this is great case study which proves that new domains ranks easy. There are plenty niches like this! So guys, go make money! ;)

Thank You OP! BTW, I have Live Poker EMD ;D

np, the website has been alive for much longer than I posted the journey here. I began to heavily promote it through various techniques in the last few months. It wasn't on page 1 a few months ago.

There were major backlinks and social built, just in a different style (not typical PBN), as well as utilizing organic Click Through Rates and high dwell time through Crowd Search Me.

The keyword was stuck at #10 for a good amount of time, but we implemented a new SEO strategy that's not used by many, but has been around forever. Once it hits #1 I will share the strategy that helped push it over the edge.

If you're going to test if the super EMD is better than a non-EMD domain shouldn't you have tried to rank two sites using the exact same link types? One site a normal domain and the other a super EMD? This gives you what a basis for comparison.

We have no way of telling if your super EMD is now ranking better or worse than a normal domain now. All this proves is that a super EMD *can* rank.

The good news... its not too late. You can still pick same niche and use a normal domain with same link strategy and see if it ranks better/worse.

Never seen a case study of such sort using a EMD which also has it in the TLD. Bookmarked for further posts!

Good point. If it wasn't about to hit the #1 spot I would consider it, but at this point I believe it can rank as strongly as a .com, and even if it can't, it still *can* rank as we've shown.

I did not get the EMD .com because it wasn't available at the time. (Now I see it at $100)

Two main takeaways are:
.com and other top tier domain extensions are often taken, and/or very expensive via private sellers or auctions (which is the exact reason for this case study. Most good .com EMD are taken)

Super EMD is rankable which opens up new opportunities. This is akin to the .com goldrush, followed by .org, .net, and eventually EMD SEO wildwest free-for-all a few years back. Now a new market has emerged where you are only limited by your imagination as there are a myriad of domain extensions, and keyword combinations, available at regular retail price.

If someone wants to join the fun they can buy the .com and try to outrank me, but remember this point. EMD .com domains did get hit, because Google did not want to see HowToUnclogYourToilet.com rank for How to Unclog Your Toilet. If anything, this proves to be a long term solution. It is the lowest common demoninator. Wolverine.toys can NOT be anything other than what it is, Wolverine Toys. It's a 1 word domain with a 1 word TLD extension. Buying the EMD .com is a amalgam of two words masquerading as a one; the glaring footprint and loophole Google closed down - multi-word EMDs.

After seeing it soar to #3, I would much rather have a SUPER EMD than the .com, but it's available and I welcome the competition if anyone wants to pick it up.

Im in UK and just google it. Your site came up #2 on page 1 of google ;)

Do you think a 2 word combo would work? such as heman.toys?

Do you think a 2 word combo would work? such as heman.toys?

Excellent question. It might start to fall into the same realm of RunOnSentenceEMDdomains.com, where Google understands it's not the lowest common denominator. Then again I have another website ranking for Jean Grey Actress because I wanted to see if a .co could rank well in Google (probably should make a separate thread to chronicle it).

In this example heman is a very short 2 word phrase; we know the less characters the better in a domain, so it might be a very close second to a 1 word domain and be able to rank just as well as Wolverine Toys has proved.
