Persona/brand identity creation

Something I haven't seen talked about is persona creation. I've gotten to know a few bloggers that are making over 20K/month in info products, just based off of their brand/persona. Has anyone thought of creating a "brand" or "identity" in order to sell products and services? I've been doing some thinking, and this seems to be a viable option, for me at least. Thinking about it deeper, a person could have 2-3 personal brands floating around in different industries, and the upkeep wouldn't be that difficult.

I've been giving this some heavy thought, because Im a marketing consultant, and to start this process would be relatively easy for me. Is this something that anyone has tried? Does it sound like a solid idea?

I am not so sure about how a person can have multiple brands in multiple industry.. It might be possible in a single industry, by working their way towards being a influencer in that industry.. But being an influencer in multiple industry, could be a bit weird.. and might not work that effectively.. Just my opinion, i could be wrong though...

2 personas in 2 industry may work. I'm working my way into the IM industry with a blog while I already achieved recognition with my music expertise. It's all about getting people to trust you, and it all starts by giving people what they want.

I meant more of a constructed brand.

Kind of like how most singers don't write their own records; some unkempt dude in a hoodie writes the amazing music, and Beyonce, with her white teeth and glowing skin sings it. And the fans go wild.

That's more of what I'm talking about.

It's been done on a major scale for decades, in most fields of entertainment.

That happens all the time and I do that myself for a lot of the industries in which I serve. I don't market SEO to Dog trainers the same way I do to those in the fitness industry nor the same to the SEO crowd and I don't use the same websites, vernacular or marketing methods either.

I think to do otherwise is amateur hour in many cases and exposes a guy as immature in business.

Not immature as in an offensive manner but immature as in lacking experience, and I see it a fair amount when we are marketing out and about.

I think the reason why people don't do this, or fail at doing this is because you have to actually do solid research, or at the very least find a look-alike audience from someone that's established, and analyze their operation.

Lucky for me, strategic planning, and analyzing data are sort of my strong suits.
