Apparently some guys make a lot of money by developing wp plugins.

Any feedback available? Any tips? Do successful people sell their plugin on codecanyon or with another standalone approach?

All feedbacks appreciated.
Thanks

WP Dev here. It's a pretty rocky industry to get into - codecanyon have pretty strict guidelines on the type of plugins you upload and the quality of those plugins. It's certainly doable, but unless you've already got quite a bit of experience you might struggle. Going on your own can be even harder, sure you get 100% of the profits, but actually getting traffic to your site is a challenge.

Web dev here, I would not bother.

The chance of you making money in this crowded market is slim. Unless your pluggin has the backing of authority users (yoastSEO for example) or is absolutely the best at a very common problem (contact form 7 for example) you will not get anywhere.

for an average wordpress plugin the revenue generated at codecanyon is not sufficient to support its continuous development..

Plugin buyer here.

I buy around 1 to 2 custom plugin every month, through freelancer. averaging from $30 to $200.
I believe it depends the country you're from, unfortunately (for Tier 1 countries developers) some developers take as low as $10/hour which kill americans, uk, australian or anyone else that want to get into that business.

Now if I were you and really wanted to make money out of it, I would stick to this forum, find methods that are shared and loved by the board, and develop plugins to automate or facilitate that said method.

Good luck.
