20k traditional tattoo flash niche instagram

Hello everyone, I'm currently opperating an instagram with 20k followers, traditionaltattooflash, it features tattoo artist's traditional flash paintings from all over the world, i hadn't originally started it to monetize from it, but due to the fast growth of it (it's only been 2.5 months) I am starting to consider it.

My question is if I have this many followers, with engagement of 500-1000 likes per photo, is it too soon to start asking for money? The page already has an email submission process where everyone emails me their artwork to post, but I've just been doing it for free. Should I wait to start charging and if not, what is a reasonable fee per post?

I'd post less pictures a day, 2-3 at max, and tell the peope who submit, that they could pay a little fee (5-10$) to get their post published for sure. They could be published for free too, if their work is good enough and there is not any paid post in the queue

Thanks for the input, I tend to post frequently because of the high volume of submissions (about 50 a day), but never posting more than once every hour, it hasn't seemed to affect the page negatively, but that is something to take into consideration. I was considering asking $5 a post, but I fear if I start charging too soon people will be turned away from the page because they're used to it being a free service.

That's why I'd tell them that there are 50 posts a day, so even if you don't lower the number of posts a lot of submits won't get featured. I think they would understand and pay you, especially if they have already been featured on the page.

I started asking for $5 a post from the people submitting their work to my page, most of them just don't respond and the ones that have responded say they understand but are not willing to pay, I'm going to continue trying to charge, but it seems as though a shout out to 20k followers is not worth $5. On a more positive note I designed a shirt to sell and put it up for pre-order and have already gotten a good amount of people interested in one. I'm wondering if I should continue to post for free occasionally just to keep activity up until this all gains some momentum, I just hope that if I do that, that the people I've been asking for the $5 fee don't communicate with someone I posted for free, that's the only part of that idea that seems questionable, anyway thanks again for responding, very very much appreciated

Your welcome. Well, then maybe you should continue doing it for free until your follower base is higher. Anyway, I don't know why do they expect you to advertise their work for free for 20k people... Maybe they did a favor for you with sending you content, but I think now it changed.

It is completely fine to start monetizing now.
You have many options with instagram and with your niche especially.

1) Sell paid shoutouts
2) Make a website, let them submit form, collect their data, market products to them
3) Find an affiliate and start selling their products for %
4) Make shirts and sell them
5) Make a website and monetize it with ads (Adsense)
6) Contact tattoo shops and designers offering them space on your IG or website

There are many other ways, you just need to be creative!
