Need advice: Reputation management

If you read the original post carefully you'll see I had actually already put up the EM blogspot. As stated before I'm trying to learn the ropes myself, haven't done ORM before but it seems doable (and least in this case) and therefor I'll give it a shot myself before hiring an expert. For as now I got 2 EMD results and 3 web 2.0's on page 2 just by some good onpage. The GSA campaign ended today, links are being indexed just now. The YT-vid is being made at the moment, might as well make it a good one. Commenting negatively or any other form of NSEO is an absolute no-go with parasites, it'll just make them stick even better since Google loves activity & it's Blogger.... .. .

Having access to a lot of great naturally ranking properties is what you'll need. That's why people suggest a real ORM company because we/they have established a baseline of sites that will almost always rank well. You can utilize those sites without a whole lot of links and see quicker success.

Are you speaking of PBNs or something different?

I imagine PBNs would be very effective at raising visibility on pages you / your client would prefer to see in the SERPs. However, if so, is there any concern about leaving a footprint with that pattern of use?

PBN's are one way to do it. I always like to have a variety of different methods that can all rank. If Google's algorithm shifts towards something new, we've already developed a way to enhance that part of the algorithm.

I use my PBN to rank as well as provide link juice. I've built it in such a way that there isn't a footprint. Different hosts, different registrars, new sites, old sites, established sites, contextual content, etc.

One other related question...unlike Local SEO, is there really a worry about using BH techniques? Say, if G detects a PBN, does that really matter, as they can easily be replaced.

Nobody wants to waste effort and money, but given one employs a variety of techniques/methods, then all the eggs are not in one basket.

I think the greatest risk is a penalty rather than losing part or all of the PBN. With regular SEO your client will have (usually) a single site you're pushing up, if something happens to that site you're in real trouble.

I'm a little late to the party, but I came across this thread looking for something else.

There are several ways you can help this client and get the bad review buried.

1) You should claim the Google My Business/Local/Maps listing for the business and get that verified with the NAPW that you will use for the citations. You may have to wait for a postcard to arrive in the mail at the client's business.

2) Get the client established on every major SM site, especially Google+, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

2) Citations. Get as many Name Address Phone Website (NAPW) citations claimed as quickly as you can. There are services that will claim 50 major directories and the four major data aggregators (Localeze, Infogroup, Factual, Axciom) for less than $100 (which you can pass on to your client).

3) The website should have the NAP on every page (i.e. in the footer).

4) Invest in a service like ReputationLoop that allows the client to ask clients for reviews. The system sends out an email to every customer immediately after their entered into the system, presumably right after they visited the client's business. The email contains a request for a review on a private website that looks like a review site; if they leave a 4- or 5 star review, they are redirected to leave a public review on Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc. If they leave a 1-to-3 star review, the thank you page contains a request for more details. Often, when you provide an opportunity for them to vent, they will not continue and go public, especially if your client follows up with them to improve the situation. RepLoop is an amazing system and we have dozens of clients on it, charging them $395 per month for reputation marketing.

An additional feature of the system is that it will capture existing and new 4 and 5 star reviews and post them automatically to social media. (It's how we position ourselves as Reputation Marketing vs reputation management or plain ol' monitoring).

Take these relatively simple steps and that link will be buried quickly.

So a friend of mine asked me to help him out the other day explaining someone had written a bad review about his business roughly 6 months ago which is now ranking #3 for his business' name. He told me it's hurting his business badly. I analyzed the situation and it turns out some guy made a blogspot post about his bad experience with him. It doesn't seem like he's putting in much effort to get it ranking although he optimized the tags. The post is ranking though because of Blogger's DA and since there's little competition for the name.

So my question to you is; how do I go about outranking this review with some other results?

Here's my plan so far:

1. I actually managed to pick up the EMD for the business name, don't know why but my friend build his website on a different domain 9 years ago. I guess with some linkjuice it shouldn't be too hard to get it in the top. Any advice on the types of links for a brand new domain would be much appreciated.
2. I told my friend to create a FB, Twitter and YT page. I'll try to get the FB and Twitter pages ranked with some GSA links (I've been told big G is a little more forgiving when it comes to high DA pages). Furthermore I advised him to make a YT-video which I'll try to rank by using the livestream feature combined with some Fiverr gig.
3. Last but not least I registered w3.EM.blogspot. and w3.EM.wordpress, guess I'll spread out the GSA links over those as well.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Make posts that the titles are similar to the ranked "bad review" on sites like blogger, wordpress, tumblr, and about 10 other popularize web 2.0 properties. You want enough posts to at the least push the bad review to the second page in the SERP. Make sure your SEO is solid. Then simply rank the pages above the review pushing it back in the SERP. There is another technique but I'm not going to be the one to encourage or teach how to do it. Just simply push the review into oblivion. for faster results you can try and contact the reviewer and simply bribe the reviewer with a new product or $$$, they almost always take the money.
