Need advice: Reputation management

So a friend of mine asked me to help him out the other day explaining someone had written a bad review about his business roughly 6 months ago which is now ranking #3 for his business' name. He told me it's hurting his business badly. I analyzed the situation and it turns out some guy made a blogspot post about his bad experience with him. It doesn't seem like he's putting in much effort to get it ranking although he optimized the tags. The post is ranking though because of Blogger's DA and since there's little competition for the name.

So my question to you is; how do I go about outranking this review with some other results?

Here's my plan so far:

1. I actually managed to pick up the EMD for the business name, don't know why but my friend build his website on a different domain 9 years ago. I guess with some linkjuice it shouldn't be too hard to get it in the top. Any advice on the types of links for a brand new domain would be much appreciated.
2. I told my friend to create a FB, Twitter and YT page. I'll try to get the FB and Twitter pages ranked with some GSA links (I've been told big G is a little more forgiving when it comes to high DA pages). Furthermore I advised him to make a YT-video which I'll try to rank by using the livestream feature combined with some Fiverr gig.
3. Last but not least I registered w3.EM.blogspot. and w3.EM.wordpress, guess I'll spread out the GSA links over those as well.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thank you for the tip, didn't know there was even a RM section here. That'll be useful for sure. Trying to learn the ropes myself.
 
1: Just get someone or get a firm that would help improve your friend's reputation.
2: Tell your friend to get in touch with the person who made the negative review. Ask to take down the review and rectify the situation.
 
I honestly believe I am capable of helping my friend out myself. We're talking low, low competition here. Just not used to ranking brand new domains. If anybody could advice me on some links that I could use for the EMD that would be fantastic. The person who posted this review actually did it with the intention to bring Harm to my friend's business. Negotiation is unfortunately not an option. NSEO would be a death trap with blogspot.
 
OP I think you're on the right track. Create social media accounts, pinterest and instagram too.
I'd also do some high DA web 2.0 like the reviewer did, Tumblr, etc.
Might take a bit but that should do it.
 
Do Everything you said and put up a Blogspot as well (just having a more authoritative better linked Blogspot might replace his with your own) , and some more Web 2.0's (there are plenty of lists on this forum).

Don't just build orphan pages/properties ... i.e. on just about every CMS you can interact/comment/like etc with other pages and other users of that CMS. So do that to get more inner links working within your profile.. Optimize your onpage, tags, images , media... embed your youtube video wherever you can.

Where to get backlinks? .... well you just built a whole bunch of properties in the steps above ^^^ So use those properties and pages to link between each other to help each other rank.

Nothing unnatural here: just lots of content on lots of page about the same topic referencing each other..... some are bound to pop into the top 10 for such a low comp keyword.

For further link juice if needed just send the best links you have access to on GSA i.e. high PR/DA contextuals to your newly created interlinking Tier.

Use as many web2.0s with his name as you can and get those ranked above the blogspot.

Great piece of advice, really appreciate it! I got caught up in the PBN mentality of never interlinking my properties, but you're right, in this case it would be 100% natural. I'll just try to make sure Google notices the activity on my Web 2.0's + the EMD is already ranking #4 on page 2.
 
I am not sure about this reputation. i have a question with u. Nowadays the reputation is alive or check my account and tell me plz.
 
Most of the time for reputation management campaigns, success comes through a variety of means. You're talking about Web 2.0's, and you might be able to get a couple on page 1. You mentioned the EMD, hopefully can get to page 1 (doubtful IMO). That least you with needing at least 3 more properties to suppress the negative to #11. In my experience, 11 isn't nearly enough as it's likely to bounce back.

Having access to a lot of great naturally ranking properties is what you'll need. That's why people suggest a real ORM company because we/they have established a baseline of sites that will almost always rank well. You can utilize those sites without a whole lot of links and see quicker success.

That's my 2 cents after 8+ years.

Heard a lot about you BH, glad to receive your advice! I'll give it a shot, if things don't work out hiring a specialist is always an option. What's your opinion on giving some positive reviews that are already on page 1 some extra linkjuice to help supressing the negative one?

Reviews are tricky. I call them "Potential Negatives" because all it takes is one bad review and your 'positive' target has turned into a negative and to top it off, you've pushed up the potential negative furthering your trouble. You shot yourself in the foot!

I always prefer content and pages that I can control. If it's outside of my control I'm very cautious about pushing it up.

I guess with larger businesses this is very true, however my friend has a local driving school and really all reviews except for this one have been positive. I agree on the fact that it's probably better though to be able to have full control over the pages. Just started the GSA campaign. I'll update this thread in a bit with some results.

Yet they say that any publicity, even bad publicity, is good for business. :D

I always prefer content and pages that I can control. If it's outside of my control I'm very cautious about pushing it up.

Funny but solid advice. I agree with the internal linking strategy too. I guess getting people to comment negatively on that negative blogspot review page would help as well :)
