Wordpress Sites are Easier to Rank on Google than Websites

I'm in the brainstorming stage of making a new site and I'm debating whether to make it a Wordpress site or a regular Website with Godaddy or Bluehost. What do you guys think about this debate concerning which type of site Google seems to like more when ranking? Any input is appreciated and hopefully can be helpful to everyone.

Pick a niche, then pick some high search volume keywords, and finally check what CMS are the top 10 sites using, for each keyword.

Any sort of website can be hacked, as long as you have security plugins and a good host you'll be fine, unless you really piss of a hacker

The people using wordpress that get hacked don't do any of the basic security features let alone some easy advanced stuff.

I have been wanting to do a basic blog on a topic I enjoy and I'm going to build out a small blog site with my own code.

It's not really the WP platform itself. It's all the shitty plugins people download.

true, but unfortunately wp by itself is pretty useless so you need those plugins. it's not unusual for me to find several dozen vulnerability scans directed at known wp plugins in my server logs.

Yes, I agree. That's the crux of the problem. Even if you just install WP only , it's useless without the plugins (well, mainly anyway).

WordPress is basically the new FrontPage extensions.

Wordpress really shouldn't need as much plugins as they do, but they leave out so much basic features that wastes time finding a plugin if there is one available. Searches for example don't have a simple way of also going through tags. Tags are supposed to help people find things not just be for SEO.

I honestly feel like WordPress is used by majority of the people that lack developing skills.
WordPress reminds me of Microsoft Front Page.

It lacks in all areas and I personally hate it. I see 7th graders using that platform.

But to be on topic: Google doesn't really give a beep if you're using WordPress or if you made your website from scratch via Dreamweaver.
The only beneficial part of WordPress seems to be the structural integrity of your internal linking, which the platform takes care for you with very little thinking required.
However, creating your own website from scratch gives you more selectivity as to how you want your internal linking hierarchy to look like.

Not everyone has time to develop a site or to learn developing skills thats why CMS's like wordpress are great for the majority of people. And having a totally custom website made can cost alot more money than what wordpress+a nice them and then some tweaking around of the code.

In my opinion WPress (or any other decent CMS) with its native tag pages,category pages,custom fields taxonomy pages,archives,media pages is much more valuable system then HTML or any other five-ten-twenty or whateva how many pages Hand coded website.

'Wpress Generic Pages/Archives' which are generated with few clicks can save you a lot of time which you then dont need to spend on creating 100 HTML pages. Those wpress pages will rank passively as time go by and as your website get some authority..In short you will have more exposure,no hard work at creating all that pages and categories and shit..

Off course you can do that with every other language/system that is out there but CMS especialy Wpress is a way to go.

It doesnt matter after all, cause you can rank with any reasonably decent coded page...Just dont go Locco and get yourself one of the full-flesh-weird-coded-site-template ,that shit will probably make you and SE crawlers cry

P.S - WPress Security is certainly not an issue,you can seal it up so no 'hacker' ,except maybe NEO can get in.No system is fully secure,its more probable that your hosting get hacked and hackers inject their shit that way...With few basic settings/permissions/ip blocking/folder locks...etc...your Wpress wiill be safe - all of which is one plugin away.

Such a site is called a parasite site (t0mmy has a great guide about this). They rank easier because of the high domain authority, however you don't really own the site as it is not self hosted thus it can be removed for any reason (especially depends on your niche).

You're talking so much about security like you held some gov secrets. As long as your website can whitstand some basic attacks you're good to go, let's not pretend that most of us have websites worth hundreds of thousands $.
Backup everyday, decent security and supportive hosting company is all you need, if someone really wants to hack your site he'll do it. If your website is worth so much, hire a company in the field to check it for vulnerabilities and they'll give you a proper report.

Which plugin?
there are a lot of different plugins that lack security, and choosing the wrong one can be detrimental to your website, especially all the third party plugins popping up on google.
People will consider anything safe after spending a day of searching for the plugin that suits you best.

And another thing is, I've seen people trying to add links within their plugins and sidebars via WordPress, but you have to consider that some of those plugins operate in javascript (which doesn't produce link juice)...
