Hi,

I have an interesting question today.

Someone just transferred a really valuable domain name to me (valued at 30k) by accident. It was a transfer from one major domain registrar account to another (so the transfer was instant).

Now, I can manage the domain, what should I do with it?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Don't touch what is not yours. Ask the owner if he wanted it back.

I would have contacted the owner before he does. At least you would get an appreciation and maybe a reward for giving it back.

Something is better than nothing, cos anyways you will lose the domain or even if you manage to keep it, the owner won't leave it alone.

Why take the domain, it's not yours.. Just leave it there so the sender can ask the registrar to take it. Even if you decided to take it, the sender might hack it back, or simply blast it with millions of viagra links...

I had a similar case (not such a value) 1 week ago. I gave it back.
Trust me this is a real good feeling, because you know you did the right thing! Karma is a bitch!

Man give it back...Remember, what goes around comes around.

I second this. If it's that valuable I'm sure you'll get a reward for giving it back.

try to investigate who by mistake did this.
transfer it back to him.
i must say, 30k value domain is interesting. i think he would be very sad.

I tend to think the same. You may get a tip/reward, otherwise, you may face legal action.

May be it can become your's after 1 year + 1 day (lost and found laws may differ from country to country)

You should just give it back but if you wanted to be sneaky then send an email to the real owner stating something like this (read/return receipt):

"Thank you for the very generous transfer of domain. I really appreciate it and will make good use of it but are you really sure? I will not use the domain for 7 days and if you want it back I will be happy to return it to you if you contact me. If I do not hear from you within 7 days then I will take it that it was not an error or mistake on your part and I will do as I please with the domain."

This will not cover you legally but after 7 days you could begin to transfer it to a new registrar but as I said initially, you should just give it back.

Man just give it back, karma is a bitch, the guy just made a mistake probably one digit. You are liable from a legal point of view, its just like stealing. Don't be happy about it, think if it was you instead of him.

OP is that a April fool ?

P.s : How you know its 30k worth value ?

If the person has a 30k domain im sure they have more in the bank.

Yeah its nice to give it back but big face benji is nice too :)
