Relationship VS Career? or Both?

I think you really can have both, a growing career and an intense relationship. With a relationship you will always have someone who got your back, even in bad times.
But if i would have to choose between a serious relationship and an once-in-a-lifetime-career-option, i will choose the career.

I'm currently juggling my company/IM work, university and a relationship, and I'm very happy! She makes me smile the moment I see her which is good for staying in a good mood, and is always there to chat with if I feel like sticking my head up my own arse and jumping off the balcony for not getting anything done.

Naturally the opposite sex does require quite a lot of time, but in my opinion it's totally worth it.

+1 for this!

I got straight A's this semester taking 15 hours, cashed a check this month for $3,527, and am VERY happily married to a beautiful woman.

As long as she supports you, go for it.

100% sort your life out 1st. You'll never be in a happy relationship if you're not happy with how you're doing job/money wise first imo.

edit: saw your comment re 1 line answers so thought I'd expand lol. I was with a woman i loved to bits 2 years ago, didn't work because i didn't feel good enough for her. Started going to the gym and doing fairly well for myself money wise, still get the same as u sound fairly often but the more succesful i get the more confident i get. And I don't care what anyone says 99.9999% of women will go for someone whos confident. None will want to hear the whiny stuff in your post (not a criticism obviously fine posting it here)

Looks like you're doing ok for yourself with the amount of thanks you have though

Hey Shades, in my opinion, relationship matters more as money can earn back anytime but not true love. Even if a career is being successful, one may feel 'empty' is one's heart due to the lack of human's nature. As anyone can rebut regarding love against money, the fact that money is replaceable (being created) but love being nurtured is two different calibers.

Love is beyond Money at all times.

I should have been a little more clear in the thread as I'm not currently in a relationship. There's someone that I have my eye on, but this person does not know this. I just feel like I can have a relationship with this person though at the same time I'm at a very crucial time where I've got to focus on building my foundations for the future.

I need to spend every little time I've got in personal growth to catch up to the place I should have been at by now or to get even further. Not to mention that I'm still young and want to have some other fun, where a relationship isn't the kind of thing you want to be in. A relationship would be awesome, I can feel that, but I feel like I first need to get my ground work sorted, the most basic parts of my life.

The reason I posted the thread was because I just couldn't decide but I've been thinking and I think I'm good as it is. If we put my two decisions either 'a relationship' or 'ground work plus other fun' down to child's play it feels a bit like having to choose between that chocolate fudge cake or ice cream for desert where neither is the better choice or even comparable, though one may be more interesting than the other at the current time.

Most importantly I don't even know the person on a personal level, just had a chat here and there while she was serving me, so quite a funny one to begin with. Maybe it's just hormones and that need to be with someone.

Although a one line answer, it seemed to touch me a little more than others.

To ask the question about balancing the two is to admit one's life is out of balance. Too many modern people live lives that are totally weighed towards making money to the exclusion of all else---physical fitness, spiritual time, family, etc. Really, how difficult is it to schedule dating time into one's life routine? Then once a special person is found, explain to them the career issue, and certain limitations on time and access they will have to endure for the time being.

Part of the problem is in also devaluing what we used to call courtship and marriage by calling it "a relationship," as if such a specific emotional bond should be titled with a catch-all term. The situation you have with your lawyer or doctor is a "relationship." Deepening the love bond with your projected life mate should be honored with a more specific term. Since we don't bother these days to do even that, no wonder we're having "balancing" problems?

This is such a great response. I do have problems with balancing my life out but that's because I let it get too far out of hand and now it's hard to get everything sorted just like that. I'm trying to balance things out but at the same time I want to enjoy certain things and therefore I've decided not to get into a relationship just yet. I definitely need to work on my health, on my fitness, on my family, etc. Starting a relationship now feels like adding more fuel to the already large fire which is hard to manage as it is.

A great girl in your life will make your life beautiful, more productive and enjoyable or she will make your life difficult.I see girls as very practical beings but in which direction she knows better,They analyse boys very minutely, like a small scar on your foot ,the way you sleep, the height of your shoes.
If she has only her body to offer you can win her with money and looks and if she has more than her body you need to build that relationship. But more than anything you have to be ready for one.

Forget about career, you don't wanna work your ass off so one day when it comes to a promotion some kiss ass newbie takes your place. Build some stable and consistent income source for yourself. Once you're set financially it should be easy to dive into a relationship.

If you can't juggle, get a calendar and start planning so you're not overwhelmed. My woman is extremely good at organization and it's helped a lot because she's understanding when I have to do work on IM. You either talk about things like adults or you don't say anything and get more anxious.

By career I meant entrepreneurship. I should have made that one more clear too. :)
