Are local citations counts as parasites?

recently, i seen some threads in this forum regards Parasites .

i been tried to ask that in the post itself but didnt quite understand it to the bottom.
so if i got citations with reviews (yelp,yp,merchantcircle etc...) which points to my business money site.
would it gain any good to mass backlink the citations?
is it going to make only damage?
i put lots of afford working on this ciations and websites and got reviews and i dont want to be removed from yelp / google.

if anyway can make it clear once and for all that would be fantastic.

You are better off using those as pure parasites. There are parasites that have value in link juice, and there is some value there, but the true value in citations is in reviews. The reviews actually power the citations.

I would work on increasing them as opposed to backlinking them.

You are right and of course i agree, unfortunately, generating reviews becomes impossible...even real Reviews are being removed by yelp and i never found a pro who can really past the filter. and i paid good money at the time.

Citations are decent for tier 1's but make sure the site is actually passing link juice. A lot of citation sites use redirects or nofollows.

I'll give you a hint, IP address plays a big role in it.

of course it is, but i made some tests with a dedicated geo targeted IP's and 12 out of 12 accounts got filtered (i did use the same ip for each account every log in).
there must be a way for Yelp to recognize the device i used. even if to use proxys, but login from the same device wont do..
at list not for me.

They help you as long as your citations are EXACTLY the same as everything else that has the same citation.
