Hey guys, here's a quick update of what I accomplished today.
I added content to my affiliate sites. My first one is doing well. I have a record number of views today, all from Bing for some reason. My second one isn't doing as well as the first but I will not give up on that one just yet. No new clicks on Amazon but the traffic looks ok so far.
I completed 3 Fiverr gigs. I received a new order today and I added a new gig.
I added another article to Constant Content. I have 11 articles on the site now. 6 are live and 5 are still under review. They are getting hits so I am just waiting for the right person to come along and buy them.
I haven't heard from the Odesk client. He said he was going to add the next payment today but that did not happen. I will contact him tomorrow and see what he says.
I wrote 500 words for my ebook. I messaged someone on Fiverr and I'm having them design a cover for me. I will be uploading the book to Amazon this weekend and will be taking a new step in the journey. Amazon ebook sales and publication is brand new to me so I'm excited to learn about the process.
I added an article to my personal blog. 0 traffic so far but it's more of a way to keep me on track and remind me of what I'm striving to accomplish.
I'm brainstorming some ideas about a article/content creation business. I reached out to a friend of mine to see if he would be interested in helping me out. The hardest part will be getting real clients, not someone from Odesk or whatever. This is the least important thing at the moment and just something I'm daydreaming about.
I looked into some SEO services offered here and I will probably purchase one in a month or two for my affiliate sites. Or I will figure out what programs they're using and buy those instead. I'm not educated enough to know if they're needed or not and I'm still learning daily about SEO.
And that's all I did today. I feel I accomplished a lot even though I only was able to work for 6 or so hours. On Friday I will be dedicating every waking hour to finishing the ebook and getting it live on Amazon. I'm also going to push harder for my first affiliate sale.
I broke the $200 mark today. I've earned $208 so far since I started this journey less than 2 weeks ago.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the lack of updates. I didn't see the point in updating every day since it was all just a repeat of the previous day. Here's what I managed to accomplish over the past couple days.
I added content to both my affiliate site and I started a third one. I have a few clicks on Amazon and the first two sites are getting 3-5 hits per day. Most of my traffic is coming from Yahoo and Bing and while I know I'm indexed on Google I'm not sure how to check my ranking. No sales yet.
I've been manually adding backlinks yesterday and today. I'm submitting articles to directories, blog commenting, creating forum and membership profiles, and I'm trying to get some content posted on authority sites. I was looking at GSA and I think it might be worth it to buy it for the long run. I could also sell the services it provides on other sites and recoup my money back if I really wanted. That's something to think about.
My Odesk client submitted another $100 to my account so I've been doing the articles for him. I've gotten a bunch of Fiverr orders and I have a few in queues right now. I'm going to look into outsourcing the work because the potential is there to make easy money by outsourcing content. The hard part will be finding reliable writers but I'm going to browse Odesk for one later on.
I've added content to Constant Content every day. Another one of my articles sold for full rights. I have 14 articles up on the site and every article has more than 5 visits. After speaking with another member here they said that not every article will sell immediately and I have to wait for someone looking for the specific content to make a purchase.
My eBook is almost finished. It's over 20k words and I still have more content to add. This has been a huge time sink and I'm probably going to outsource the next one. Again, the issue will be finding a quality writer. I would hate to get an eBook then have to spend hours editing the content. I'm hoping to put it up on Amazon tomorrow or on Monday. It really depends what the process is but once it's live everything should be peachy.
So far I've earned around $330 dollars. Not bad considering I was fresh to everything just 15 days ago. It's not a great amount but I'm proud I earned something. I'm hoping to earn over $500 in this first month. Off to a good start!

This might be a dumb question but how do I tell exactly what rank in Google my website is? Do I need specific software or is there somewhere online that will tell me?

Hey guys,
Here's another update of what I've been doing over the past couple of days.
I've decided to dedicate my time to two efforts.
First, I plan to put a lot more effort into my Amazon Affiliate sites. I've got three up but I haven't got any sales yet. I reread the whitepassion and danny1111 threads and I will be investing money into the sites and getting more up. My investments will be for content and I plan on adding 5 review articles and 5 general articles to every new site I create. The sites I currently have up are getting a few hits every day from Google, Yahoo, and Bing but I think I need to wait a while longer to see if the traffic is going to increase. I'm also going to invest in SEO because after reading a whole bunch of articles and websites it seems that quality backlinks are incredibly important and will help with google rankings.
My ebook is complete and is currently being edited. The editing process is taking longer than I thought and I don't know how long until I get it back. That will be the other method I will be pursuing. I'm going to put more effort into creating and uploading ebooks to Amazon. The income will be completely passive once it's uploaded and with enough successful ebooks it's possible to earn quite a bit of money.
The problem with creating content for others is that I have to spend a lot of effort working on something for a fixed price. Once I give them the content that's it and there's no further income to be made. I still have the first client I made on oDesk and our arrangement is ok but once he doesn't need any more content from me I won't be writing for anyone. I definitely plan on making a content creation service in the future but that's after my other endeavours have become successful.
I'm also taking down my Fiverr gigs because it's simply not worth it for me to dedicate 15-20 minutes of my time to earn $4. I have enough savings to keep me from working an actual desk job for at least a year so I don't need to be trading my time for money.
So that's about it. This journey is headed in a new direction and with everything that;s happening I should be able to post more interesting updates over the next few days.

Also I'm getting more search engine hits so I assume the sites are rising in the ranks of Google. I don't have any sales but I have 15 clicks on Amazon so far. I'm hoping to get a sale soon! I'm still not worried about no sales but it's nice to see that traffic is coming in. At least I know I'm doing something right!
I'm also going to outsource the content creation for these sites. It's really cheap and there are a ton of good writers available online. Especially if you're looking for high quality content you can easily find it on Fiverr. It saves a lot of time outsourcing and allows me to pursue other options intend of dedicating a large portion of my time to writing articles.

I was away for the past couple days travelling. I've actually booked my flights and first 3 months rent in Poland. I'm leaving in January so I have the next 6 months to figure everything out with IM. I'm going to be posting every day again since it's easier for me to see what I've accomplished and it keeps me in check.

Thanks for the update. I love how you went from writing for a bunch of different sites for a small amount of money, to thinking about outsourcing to those sites. I think you will have more success with your new method of just focusing on your ebooks and affiliate sites. I used to do freelance writing for the low paying content mills and such and now I plan on writing my own ebooks. Like you, I'd eventually like to outsource. Good luck.

Thanks for the comment. Outsourcing is a much more effective way of getting content and saves me a lot of time. However I already received some articles from one guy and while it's fine the articles I could write are MUCH higher quality. I'm going to keep looking though since it's unfair to compare his writing to mine as I used to write all day at my previous job.

Here's an update for today.
Added content to 3 of my sites. I'm searching for a quality yet affordable writer. Odesk is great since there are tons of people looking for a positive review and are willing to work for a low rate (8 articles/$20). I'm going to raise the price if I don't get the content I'm looking for but the good thing is that the lower quality articles can be added to web 2.0 sites.
Which brings to the backlinks. Ever since i started added content to sites like weebly, Wordpress, blogger, tumblr, and Twitter, my traffic is steadily increasing. However I still haven't gotten an affiliate sale. I might be looking at the process all wrong since after spending 10 hours rereading whitepassion and danny1111 thread I realize I'm probably still not targeting the right keywords. Again, this is not an issue as a month ago I had no idea what an affiliate site was, or had ever even set up a site and now I have 4 live which are all seeing traffic.
I think I need to invest in some SEO tools like GSA and Serpbook. I really have no idea how to tell where my sites are ranked. I can't find them on Google but on Yahoo and Bing they are all in the top 3 pages, and some in the top 3 results, for a variety of different keywords.
I'm going to get a 5th site live and actually pick a niche I'm passionate about. With all the notes I have I have a feeling that this is going to be the one I get right.
My eBook went live on Amazon after getting almost 4k downloads. The problem is I only got 1 review. 3 Sales on the first day. Woohoo! I've posted a job on Odesk looking for an eBook writer and I've started writing another. It's super easy to find niches on there. The one I'm working on now is fiction and in the supernatural niche so it's actually fun to write about. I'm using Scrivener as well, which is an amazing writing tool.
That's about it. The eBook method seems like the best route forward so far. Although it took me a few weeks to write my book it looks like it's going to do really well. Even 10 sales a day per book brings me really close to my goal once I have a couple of books on there.
Well that's it for now. I'll post again tomorrow. It seemed like everyone who told me to spend my time on 1 or 2 things was right. I hope my affiliate sites can start making sales soon but I know that patience is the key and I will never give up.

I just noticed something with my websites that is probably common sense but surprised me. I was checking my posts from yesterday and I noticed they weren't even indexed on Google. I wasn't sure why that was because the content is great but I assumed it was because of the affiliate links. I did a quick search and realized you can submit your site to Google directly for it to be indexed. I submitted each post and within an hour they were all indexed. I'm not sure if Google didn't index them right away because of the affiliate links or because it takes time for them to get indexed but I'm glad the manual submission method worked.

My Amazon ebook is insanely successful. I have found a writer on Odesk and he is in the process of writing my first outsourced ebook. If he is any good I will have a lot of work for him in the future as I'm looking to build a steady relationship with any freelancers that can provide high quality content. I'm also going to be spending less time on all other projects to write another on my own as well. My ebook has 7 perfect reviews and is #1 in its category. I've made 15 sales since the free downloads stopped and every few hours I make another.
I went back to Fiverr and found some gigs which can also be outsourced really easily. While it was a pain to set up gigs and also contact the people I'm outsourcing to it will pay off in the long run.
I don't plan to ignore my affiliate sites but I am going to be outsourcing all the content for that as well. I'm still adding my own content daily to my sites, building backlinks, and I have a writer who will have 10 articles for me by the end of the week.
I'm not sure how many days into my journey I am so far but I believe it's close to 1 month. I will be clearing around $550-$600 depending on the next couple of days of sales.
The lightbulb that went off in my head is that outsourcing is key. Once you have the capital and can outsource you free yourself up to dedicate time to pursuing methods that will truly pay out in the long run.
