    Hi Everyone,

I?ve decided today that I will take action and begin my journey into Internet marketing. I?ve been browsing this site for a few weeks and it?s time for me to stop being lazy. I?m not interested in any ?get rich quick? schemes and I?m willing to put in the effort to enjoy the reward.

My goal is to earn $2000 per month, which will allow me to live comfortably in almost any city in the world. I love travelling and hate being stuck in my hometown for extended periods of time. I don?t have any ties to family or serious relationships and will be dedicating all my free time towards achieving my goal.

After all my time browsing there are a few methods I will be pursuing.

First, I will attempt to earn some money by writing content. I plan to create a Fiverr, Elance, Odesk, and Constant Content account and attempt to earn some money through those channels. I?m also going to be writing an eBook and will begin researching some ideas for that shortly.

Second, I will be creating a website based on an affiliate program. I?m going to look into Clickbank, Amazon, and any other affiliate programs I can find. I think the way to go for this route is to find a niche, create a site, create the content, and then drive traffic.

This is the starting point of my journey. I haven?t made any money online yet but I know with enough effort and dedication that everything is possible. I?ve read tons of threads here on BHW and I?ve made a lot of notes and by simply taking the first step I open myself up to a world of possibilities. I?m keeping this journal in order to keep myself focused and to track my failures and successes.

My journey starts today and I plan to achieve my goal 6 months from now.

    Hey man

I'm also kinda new here, however, I'm not new to Internet Marketing. I've been in this business for a long time now and I've made some good money so far. However, from August 1, I'm going to get really hard on pursuing my IM dreams. I simply want to make them happen. And I won't stop. Nothing will stop me.
We will also be competition to each other because in a little less than a month I'm going to offer my writing services for the first time in my life. I already got my crew together and we spent last month preparing everything.

I just want to wish you good luck. Trust me, you will be able to achieve everything if you are persistent. However, don't expect to much as life can be cruel sometimes.

    Day 1
Today is the first day of my IM journey. Here's what I've accomplished so far.

I've made an account on Fiverr and created a gig for writing content. I'm hoping to get my first order soon - at least in the next few days. I've also created accounts on Odesk, Elance, and Constant Content. I've submitted a writing sample for Constant Content and I'm waiting for their reply. There are some tests I need to complete for Odesk and Elance but I will complete some of those later. I've been browsing some jobs on the 2 sites and there seems to be a good amount of work available. I'll apply for some of the jobs once I've completed some of the tests.

I'll be doing some eBook research this afternoon on Amazon and I'll be looking for a niche where I can contribute some quality information. I'm not sure about the word count for a good eBook but I'm thinking 20,000-30,000 words is a good starting point. There are a ton of niches that I'm interested in but a lot of them seem saturated. I'm not sure if it really matters that it's saturated because if the content is high quality people will still pay for it. Saturation means competition, which is always good no matter how you look at it. I need to do some more research on eBooks and finding a niche.

I will be doing some research for my affiliate site after I post this. I'm going to look into Clickbank but I feel as though Amazon Affiliates will be the way to go. There are a lot more products on Amazon and people are more likely to purchase something from them over Clickbank. Also, when someone visits your site you receive commissions for anything purchased in the following 24 hours, which is pretty good.

I'm going to be browsing Amazon products to find one that I'm interested in selling. My criteria are that the product is worth over $100 to make it worth the commission and that the product has a lot of good reviews. The affiliate site I create will be full of reviews and general content about the products I am selling.

When it comes to websites I have no idea how to set anything up so this will be a learning process in itself. I've bought hosting at Bluehost for the year and it comes with 1 free domain name. I haven't chosen a domain since I haven't decided on the product but I'm hoping to have that done in the next few days. I don't know anything about indexing or ranking a page so I will also be learning about that as I move forward.

That's what I've done today and what I have planned for the rest of the day. I'll be working for the next 8-10 hours so I hope to post another update later tonight.

    Update

I've fully updated my accounts on Elance and Odesk. I filled in all the relevant information and completed some tests on both sites. I browsed through the most recent jobs but was unable to find anything I was interested in. However, some of the jobs seem to pay very well. The problem I have is that my accounts are brand new and buyers will be more likely to gloss over my account but once I get those first few jobs and reviews things should be different.

I've chosen a niche I found on Amazon and used my free domain for it. The niche is in the outdoor recreation category. I've changed some of the settings and decided on a Wordpress theme for the site. I've written the first article and have already posted it to the website. I created an Amazon Account and I was going to apply for the Affiliate program but I want the site to have more content and at least a small amount of traffic before submitting my application.

Right now i'm going to continue researching methods on how to get the site ranked and look for places to submit the article to. I'm going to re-read some of the Affiliate threads on this site like WhitePassions and take more notes.

It's pretty early still so I'm going to keep working and post an update in a few hours.

    Day 2

I checked Fiverr when I got onto the computer and found out I got my first order! 24 hours after starting my journey I made my first dollar online. I completed the gig right away and in 2 weeks Fiverr will deposit $4 into my PayPal. It's not much money but I'm feeling pretty good about myself since I'm now convinced that taking action leads to making profit.

I'm pretty sure Fiverr does some marketing for you but I'm going to look for ways to get more people to check out my Fiverr page and order my gig. I'm going to create a few more relevant gigs today as well to hopefully increase my chances of getting an order.

Here's what else I plan on doing today:

I'm going to make 3 job proposals on both Elance and Odesk. I was approved by Constant Content so I will be submitting 1 article every day to that website. I like Constant Content because you can set the price of your article to whatever you want.

My affiliate website is up and running but I'm not sure how to check if it's indexed or not. Or where it would be on Google. I'll have to look into that.

I'm going to write another article and post it on the site. By the middle of next week I should have enough articles in order to apply for an Amazon Affiliates account and have something to show for it.

I've connected Google Analytics and while it shows I have traffic (7 views) I think it's just from me checking the site. I'm still in the dark on link building so I'm going to spend a few hours researching that.

I've researched a lot about affiliate sites and many places say you need at least a couple of sites to earn some good money. Once my current site starts receiving traffic and makes the first sale I will find another niche and create yet another site for it. I'm hoping to make my first affiliate sale within 60 days, so by September 5[SUP]th[/SUP] or so.

I'm going to find an eBook niche today and write at least 1,000 words for it. I'm going to read some of the Kindle threads, make some notes, and look into how to succeed with that.

While the $4 I earned on Fiverr might seem like a joke to most people here, I'm awestruck that I was able to earn even $1. All I did was put up a gig and shortly after that I had my first order. It's amazing what happens when you simply decide to take action.

I'm going to end this post with a quote that I can look back on and use to motivate me in the following months.

"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it" - Thomas Jefferson

    I have a question.

Is it possible to outrank sites like Target and HGTV with an affiliate site? For some of the niches I've found there isn't a single affiliate site on the first 2 pages, only big box stores.

Also, are people less likely to purchase something from Amazon if the product is pretty big? For example a mattress, or a bicycle?

Those are mostly ranked because of the authority of root domains, you can beat them with good link profile to your site.

Feel free to send me your article writing price quotes with samples.

It's pretty difficult to outrank or compete with those types of sites which is why you need to not focus on the main site keyword so much but instead focus on more long tail ones.

People spend boatloads on Amazon and very big ticket items so I wouldn't worry about that.

I put together a long post in someone elses thread that you should probably read related to amazon stuff.. Plus read some of the others threads I included.

Thanks OldFatGuy. I've been reading through your posts and taking notes - really informative stuff. Would the fact that there are no other affiliate sites in first 2 pages and only big box stores and authority sites (Amazon, HGTV, etc) mean that there is no competition or that it's simply too hard to rank well for the niche?

I'm not sure I have enough experience writing to be selling my writing services nor do I even know what to charge. Thanks for the offer though.
