Here's a little thought I had about SEO and I'd like to share it with you guys. Back in high school, I had a chemistry teacher who used to say that the best way to understand something is to relate it to your daily life. He related chemistry to everyday events and that made him one of the best teachers I've ever seen. So if you want to understand SEO from a different perspective, I recommend you read this post.

I realized that the same thing goes for SEO, or even IM. If you give it a thought, you'll notice that search engine optimization is indeed comparable to our daily lives, in mostly every aspect. Let me start with the basics.

For example, the first stage is finding your keyword. We usually go for low competition and high searches. The same goes for the other aspects in life, be it finding a lover, a career... People instinctively go for high quality and low competition (i.e. less work.)
Moving on to writing content, and this part speaks for itself, uniqueness and high quality is key. Again, the same goes for other fields of daily life. People are simply more intrigued by uniqueness and beauty. It's in our nature to admire sublimity, and more a special, unique kind of it.

The next stage, which is the actual SEO, relates more to daily life than the other stages in my opinion. As it is divisible to two major parts, on-page and off-page, some aspects of life are as well. Here's a table to further explain what I mean.

[TABLE="class: grid, width: 500, align: center"]

And the list goes on. You can try to complete it yourself, and you might find the same result. So in a nutshell, it's like we live in a mega-system that fathers all the systems we see in our daily lives. Maybe once we crack the code to one of them, we master the others. I also noticed that passion is something that can overcome this system and especially in its first stages. For instance, you might find a career than no one has tapped into yet has so much potential. But deep down, you love to be in another career that has high competition and less income. Many people will go for the second and I'm not saying it's rational but it just happens.

So this was my thought on SEO. Perhaps when you try to find a new method, or try to implement something but fail, try to relate it to your daily life. Try to find the solution to something similar, then implement it in your field. Hope you enjoyed the thread and got something out of it. If you can't understand something, try to find another way to understand it, because if someone else understands it, and can turn it into something huge (like income if we're talking about IM,) then so can you.

I like seeing people relate things and connect dots without making assumptions or conclusions. Understanding is just this, going deep into a matter and seeing it from different perspectives. I like your view on failure and using external reference to fix them, so many times we get bogged down in a problem we forget to improvise and adapt and overcome.

That being said, in life, people don't always go for high quality - low competition, because sometimes the best are in high competition, and some people want to have it. Depends what you want and how badly you want it. Going with the flow all the time, always following the path of least resistance, is like going with the flow of water, and if you see how water flows it moves essentially two steps forward, one step back. This is how life is when always going the easy route, and sometimes it will push you off a cliff.

Well said, I really liked this part. And among those who don't go for high quality - low competition, the people who have the right mindset won't mind the resistance.

Excellent post! I actually learn things better when I can apply it to my personal experiences.
