Until all the matter is pure energy again.

That's the way I look at it. It just 'is' and we are just a part of it.

Perhaps as soon as the universe gets to maximum entropy and there is only pure energy, the whole cycle starts again instantly.

I like this comment. I would like to know what/if something happens after we die, to me thats something that is very important to know and a great mystery so far.

Actually if after I thought more about this, it could be pretty simple
It's kind of hard to explain but everyting that the universe is like between 0 and 1
After long time ago the universe will have no energy left and everything will cease to exist
What if after that point the energy reverses and ir basically be from 1 to 0 and everything will pretty much same.I'm not knowledable like few of you are and don't know if it's remotely possible
But that's only way for me that makes sense

Just great topic and got me excited so dropping in and putting in my thoughts .

Time is a matter of consensual acceptance of beings as a race on our planet, where we count 365/24/7. If we calculate it lets say on a planet within our own solar system, it differs to varying lengths, don't it? So the time concept can be relative to the person being on that exact planet and accordingly if we calculate that wont it differ. But, as a constant Time is the relative measure adopted to calculate efficiency in all its form, why do i say efficiency, it is used to measure what has been accomplished in a broad manner.

Coming to the formulae of E=MC squared, that is a debate that still greets a lot of sceptics though. If energy is equal to mass travelling at the speed of light in vacuum which multiplies by itself; what eventually means is that if a pound of lets say bread is gonna travel at the speed of light, the mass gained is going to be exponential in all relative terms, so by the end of it a pound could differ in its density by the time it reaches another universe

And also, the question of the BIG BANG; well we talk about a Uni - Verse, which literally means a single place of existence. However, there are other verses too; so ideally the conceptual idea which can explain the big bang in a better way would be something similar to a Multiverse. There is in theory a lot of universes' which is accomodated in an unending black hole.

Just my two cents, and yeah; kudos to all the people who have brought so much for us to ponder over.

Here is my theory -- I'm in God mode right now, lol, so I know what I say is the ultimate truth and of course I know that my knowledge in still limited in a limitless way! Because there is another God mode through which I and my universe is (or should I say "was") formed...:

So I begin my theory (it's one of my limitless theories on this issue though, but for now it is sufficient for us to ponder further. And another thing... Grammar is still not God's best virtues, and so he couldn't embed 100% correct Grammar into the brains of his creations, so I beg to be pardoned for my (whatever quality of) Grammar, at least )...

From a dimension, another dimension got opened for the first "TIME" (let's consider that the new entity (time) in which a new dimension opened is called "time"... our universe was formed in THAT dimension. A new beginning came into existence (in that new dimension). Then after some time(!), Sun and planets got formed, then came the present day (after a very long time of course) and we are discussing it!!

More explanation:
It's like an atom getting exploded... the energy released forms a new kind of atmosphere in the existing atmosphere. New particles get formed,. New kind of living, non-lining beings come into existence. A ditto copy of you and me and others here could be formed on one of the "electrons" revolving around an "atom" in that atmosphere... They could be so small that our greatest microscopes can't even see the whole new "universe" is formed. When we can make one such microscope, we will understand it better, till then we use our "imagination" to visualize the phenomenon, lol, OK? May be some one will open a similar thread on a copy of our BHW there, and a copy of myself will write about it then. May be it is yet to happen, may be is already happening there, or may be it has already happened! And replicate this event many times so that you get to know how huge this idea can become -- beyond our mind's infinite horizons...!

Another viewpoint on this:
Can you see beyond the "skies" and the universe? No. Why? Because it could be so huge in nature that our entire universe is like a speck on our kind of pin-point. Getting this?

Suppose that we are living on an electron revolving around the nucleus of an atom, and around us there are a few other electrons revolving around the same nucleus. Let's call the nucleus the Sun. The entire atomic structure is called, say, the Solar system. And, the electron on which we live is called "Earth"...

Now lets get more real... Suppose that there are more such atoms in a cluster with us. More such clusters make the Milky Way galaxy. Then there is another such cluster of atoms, some distance away from our galaxy... and some more, and then some more... they together form the Universe -- our Universe.

so some time in our kind of time, an atom (very minute particle on our own "atom" called the Solar System), explodes... the explosion causes energy to release, and opens another dimension... then time comes into existence in that dimension... another universe gets formed... another Solar System gets formed in that dimension... and then rinse and repeat the above "theory" -- infinitely! That's the "GOD" system for you -- of course IMHO!

The theory is mine and mine alone, so anyone got any objections then they should keep the objection to themselves.

And it has not originated now. It came to my mind when I was a kid of about 12, may be in early 1970s. I too had a "worm" wiggling in my mind then like it's wiggling in yours. And no, I wasn't on drugs then or ever. lol. People can have a similar thought process going on all the time...

My son, when he was about 4 or less (P.S.: not 6 as I said earlier, I know because when he was 6, we had already changed our home and city) asked me one question that almost bombed my brains out! lol. His question was: Dad, suppose we are living close to the North pole. Then are people in Australia (yes, he said that! Because he had read that the Earth is round in shape, well almost round, i.e.) living upside down? With their heads pointing towards south, and opposite to ours? Are the trains there running upside down? Are they eating the food while staying in upside down position? Then which direction does the food actually is going considering that we are standing in the top of Northern hemisphere, up or down, and whose up or down will that be? Ours or theirs?

WOW! Of course I told him nothing, and took him to watch a pop show on the telly as distraction... Poor dad, he was and still is SO stupiiiiiid!!!! hehehehe

P.S.:

Now I am waiting for my grandson (whenever he comes into existence in our dimension of time, i.e.) to ask a similar question to my son... I will tell my son why we watched the telly then!

What happens when our universe ends....

WOW! That should never happen, but even if that happens, then the explosion or implosion or whatever action happens, it causes (suppose) some energy to release... So it is released (or may be some action takes place, or no action takes place and something happens -- or not happens...) and it forms another universe... more universes... cycle goes on in another form and in another dimension. The particular dimension which "ended" is of course closed for further study -- pending...

You, and we all, become pure energy in the mean "time" and may exist in another form in another new dimension for some "time" until we are changed into something else... may be a human and then join later another form of BHW in that time and dimension! There is a theory that the "speck of matter" is the other end of a warmhole. Everything gets sucked into a wormhole that is unimaginably heavy and unimaginably small. At some point, there comes a leverage point where the end of the warmhole is so heavy and so dense that it can not excist anymore and it explodes into another Uni - Verse creating a Big Bang there.

See that bold "almost" up there? In very rare occurrences the entropy can become smaller. E.q. its entirely possible for the universe to become organized suddenly. This is your moment just before the big bang. Then for trillions of years the normal rules apply - it becomes more and more chaotic, according to the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

I have always found the concept of a block universe interesting and its possible connection, using the spotlight analogy, with the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and quantum entanglement including the role of the observer. Obviously, I'm talking about the many worlds explanation and the idea of the multiverse.

In fact, EPR and quantum entanglement may be good for something more than just the next generation of our quantum computers using qubits; perhaps possibly explaining something as unintuitive as karma.

There will never be a way to prove how the spec of dust came from absolutely nothing. How can something be created from absolutely nothing. And if it happens, why don't we see examples occurring in the universe.

I wish we knew the answer, but I believe we will never truly know.
