Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

So I've been testing one of my sites using straight spam since the new update. The results are quite strange. It is a PPD keyword with medium competition (22000 searches). I setup a project on GSA and have been building links. The site ranks 5 and 7 in yahoo and bing and it is 1 in other keywords for the site on bing. Obviously I know this site will get hit with penalties, but it hasn't ranked in Google at all. Not even for a single day. Not quite sure what to think about this.

Well what a great contribution from your end, thank you so much for chiming in, i guess you have some data to share why you think there is no 30 day sandbox (not saying there as my tests are still inconclusive) because you seem to be in the know, being a "big guy" and all..... 0_o

There seems to be a problem with not only using spam gsa ser links, but with a site having too many wordpress pbn links is what im seeing as well. The majority of people using pbns are lazy and just set up wordpress, and im sure google knows this.

It wouldn't have been very hard for them to recognize that wordpress is only used by 20% or whatever the percentage is of all websites out there, and filter any sites whose backlink profile consists of too high a percentage of wordpress contextual backlinks. Im seeing this on some of my penalized sites and on some of my competitors too. Pbns need to evolve to offer more platform diversity imo.

You have a point. Many people ignore certain seemingly trivial but actually important considerations while building their PBNs. Google's algorithm is becoming more efficient by the day, so how can we win when we are doing things inefficiently?

I set it up, and within a week, it was hitting around 20k unique views per day and top 20 for all keywords (it was using a streaming database I have from my other websites.) Another week later, the website tanked to 2k unique views per day, and all its rankings went 100+. So I figured I'd leave it and come back to it when I had time. Around 45 days later, I saw a large increase in earnings for the last few days, and wondered why.
I proceeded to check which site had its increase - and it was the one that tanked to 100+. It's now page 1-2 for all keywords, and hitting 50k unique views/day. Nothing more had been done to it in those 45 days. I'm hoping it remains ranking like that - and will continue to monitor it, and its rankings.

I have several other websites facing the exact same problem - and am going to wait and see if it clears up in the same way - and if their rankings increase.

I had a similar thing happen to one of my churn and burns, after the update it tanked for sometime, then it just came back after a few weeks, although it did not come back as strong, most keywords was between 1 and 2, now the same keywords keep going from 15 - 5, they seem to move a lot, but never lower than page two, and never higher than 5

I understand what you are saying, but until the day when I can pay my way through life with forum brownie points, I will keep my sites and methods to myself. I have seen many great methods ruined on here for a few brownie points.

My websites are not highly competitive, they are medium - sort of low. I was simply confirming what I thought in the first place, that this supposed 30 day hold is certainly not on all websites. I think many others can confirm this too.

You see what has happened here is quite simple, a lot of people who have websites which are stuck, have all come together and invented something which they can relate to their problem. The more others join in (plenty who could not even rank a website in the first place), the realer the 30 day hold becomes. Where the fuck did 30 days actually come from in the first place? Oh that is it, someone just randomly threw a number in.

I remember being on WF back in February. And this mass hysteria broke out out of nowhere. Some guy posted a thread telling people how all his YT videos lost rank, then someone else linked that BHW thread about the "-50 penalty". Right after that, like some virus had broke out, EVERYONE started to feed into the hysteria. It was crazy how many people came into the thread and started saying shit like "yep, I'm noticing the same thing too... it MUST BE THAT NEW -50 PENALTY". And for weeks after that people were posting threads about this stupid fucking "-50 penalty".

I even remember going into WF threads and telling people "all my videos are ranking fine, you guys have no idea wtf you're talking about"... but NOBODY listened.

The people who wanted to believe in the -50 penalty.... believed it.
It didn't matter what you said or how much you said it. Once their minds were convinced that was it.

And that's PRECISELY what I see happening with this thread. It's a feeding frenzy of hysteria. It all started with 1 post. Then someone put a label on it. Then a few people agreed with that label. But then that label became a >>>meme. Some crazy ass virus of the mind that spread like wildfire. And the ONLY THING that's gonna put out that fire is time.....

That's all I have to say. I will not be bumping this thread anymore.

I dont think so. But who knows maybe we are all going looney. Maybe I am over reacting without trying every possible thing. Maybe this is all a illusion. If so its very odd illusion that looks real.

I am waiting for two link packs to get done for very low comp keywords 600 plus SV, then I will test High PR exact match anchor links on different site pages using different types of links. Going to use low competition keywords only from keywords that have been having a hard time achieving page one that are currently hovering around page 2 and 3. In the next 10 days I should have a lot of data.

Something tells me Google might have given less link juice value to none exact Anchors (Like Partial match, url's and generic) for people that got caught up in this penalty/sandbox/wtf. In an attempt to spoil GSA, PBN spam and Churn and Burn 301 methods. Let me finish testing different link types and anchors. In the next 10 days should be able to come to a conclusion.

Either I am crazy or there is meaning to this madness. I will know soon.

Ok everyone. If you read the entire thread you would see my post that i said have about 20 sites that should start ranking 2 weeks ago but didn't. Now i started seeing positive movement on half of them. If it continues to move up like this i can say the thing called "sandbox" is about 30 days. Normally i should have seen the movement in 14-15 days. Now its 30 days in my opinion. If you aren't making churn burn sites than don't overdo link building bec you are not ranking. Just do the same things like you did before. Some high pr-da links, web 2.0, some bookmark and maybe a press release. I mean Just do the same things you did before to rank. Try to keep the anchor below 10-15 percent. And you should start seeing rank increase in about 30 days if your keyword has med. competition.

My 3 websites has dropped to N/A for like a month i am still doing normal link building. This thing happened when i added like 40 web2.0 for each site and i supported these web2.0 with gsa ser links then my sites dropped to nowhere. I hope they will come back.
One site that is supported with some high pr SAPE is slowly climbing to top 5 i am building low obl links with gsa ser all time.

Just to add to the discussion, some weeks ago or so, I blasted one of the worst SEOd YT videos I have ever seen, with the worst content and the worst kind of spun content in the backlinks and in 2-3 days it ranked for its kw in #6.

Funny thing that this has been the worst/loosest test site I have ever done without caring about anything. Also its searched around 30 times a month or so, yep really low searches.

Anyway, here are some pics:

It took about 2-3 days to rank with mass spam.

The video was uploaded in June 18th, no views/comments/likes/subscribers/followers/shares/pins were added to the video. It was uploaded and waited a few days and then the spam started.

Looking forward to test this in more kws with a little more searches to see what happens.

With this being said, there are no true "waiting periods" or stuff like that. Maybe Matt is just playing darts in the serps and sandboxing the lucky ones

Don't you think that the fast rankings you got were for a low comp and searches kw? If you manage to replicate this to a video and rank for >1000 MS keyword then I'm totally with you, but not for a 30MS kw!

This guy ranked #1 on hundred of 1k-50k monthly searches keywords with C&B. No social shit, just a ton of BL.

He lost no rankings during the 10 day period I've been checking him. Seems to be totally normal C&B, the domain is new, the site is relatively small, no social stuffs, just a lot of backlinks. Keyword is also highly searched as I said above.

There is definitely a waiting period. Undergoing the waiting period and being sandboxed are two different things. The waiting period and sandbox didn't start in May. They've been in existence for months and years. They only recently got intense.

Well i cant say anything but i will just create more videos in low searched low competition keywords, blast them and see what happens.
