Hey there! I'm moving to Bangkok in the next month or so. I'm making money in IM but living in NYC is so expensive, stressful and the weather is atrocious. I've heard that there are a lot of people doing IM overseas (Thailand, Philippines, India, etc.) I wanted to know if any of you were out there and/or if you know of any places where I can work or network.

Wish me luck!

P.S. I have a buddy out there already which is awesome because now I can get a head start!

the internet sucks sometimes in thailand but it does its job, other then that know as much as you can, have been married and lived in thailand for 2 years!! it ain't all that cheap anymore around the globe dude, but since I know NY too yes you kinda cheaper overseas but again know what you are up too I have faced european prices in certain areas

good luck though and do yourself a favour get a nice honest tai girl on that makes it a lot easier

The thing is, most just fly under the radar because doing any kind of work without a work permit is illegal. And it's only getting worse then the damn government can't offer any sensible visas, and instead just cracks down on any current visa type as well.

Sad really, as out of SEA countries Thailand is the most developed one.

Yeah I heard the internet can be a pain and I'm sure there's only 3g coverage for cellphones. Congratulations on your marriage buddy. I heard the trick to not spending a lot is avoiding spending money in tourist areas. My old apartment was $2,500 a month (which wasn't terrible) New York is really bad everywhere. Like even the apartments in the bronx are getting expensive. The express bus is $6 one way, cigarettes are $12. It's like really freaking bad lol AND THE WEATHER.

Thanks and I will try and do my best haha.

Yeah that's true, I considered that. Yea that's sad, how bad are they cracking down? I was really keen on going to the Philippines, but since my friend is already in Bangkok I figured I'd just go there. Also, I think the plane tickets is a bit cheaper anyway.

Hopefully I'll be able to find something off the books. My buddy is helping out at a travel agency and they need some web work. I'm sure they know a bunch of people.
