Hostgator totally CRAP - CONFIRMED

If your website uses a lot of resources, most shared providers will urge you to either upgrade to a VPS / dedicated server or a higher end shared hosting plan (such as semi-dedicated web hosting). This is in YOUR benefit ; if your website is making you money, why would you want it hosted with all the other sites on that server slowing it down or causing issues like this?

Oh and screw HostGator, they're terrible. I knew the owner before it was sold... it just went downhill after he left.

godaddy is better

I've hosted with GoDaddy, they're definitely not better. I've seen GoDaddy up their shilling practices massively all over the internet... just web hosting talk alone is littered with false reviews of GoDaddy's services (and it's even been pointed out by their community). Try out WireNine or DreamHost or any non EIG host for that matter; then just look for the best deal (most of these companies have nice coupons floating around) and you're good to go!

I AM hosting with godaddy currently and no problems. Nothing shilling about my server as well. It has been a pain in the ass before but Godaddy has totally changed. Try them out again ;)

If you have serious traffic its best to go with a vps or reseller. Ive had issues with hostgater but only when I have a ton of traffic.

I haven't had the best support from hostgator either. I don't recall ever getting a real response, just a redirect to a faq page.

I had some issues with Hostgator myself... I left Godaddy and tried them afterwards, needless to say they had the same idea of "quality" as Godaddy. My biggest issue were the frequent downtimes with NO compensation or apologies.

I now use Servinio (Servinio is very stable and cheap but too slow for larger projects and money sites.) and Hostwinds, depending on what type of site it is and what I use it for.

go for hostwinds i have business plan and vps with them, they reply quick and try to fix your problem asap. and you can always open a chat in their site, you can always bug them there if you have a problem.

I can recommend Hostwinds. Awesome support which is vital nowadays.

I vote hostwinds ..i am with them never had any problems ...their support is amazing .

i had similiar problem about CPU in Hostgator, quality Hostgator is bad since 2013, i moved my site to bluehost, everything is ok and not problem.

I am using Hostgator and pushing about 200 unique visitors a day. So far so good.

Well just to say, It's a FUC***G Great to be an BHW member, anyway just wanted to take the business to another lvl and buy hosting to stop playing around with blogger html... :D
I just want to say thanks for all who replayed on this thread and from the hundreds of hosting company's i assume that the one of the good ones and the ones who are not under EIG is the top 3 hosts i picked:
1: Hostwinds
2: HawkHost
3: DreamHost

I'll probably compare prices that will suit me and hopefully i'll find a coupon too.. ^_^

You people saved me a headache bcs a where seconds away to hit the purchase button on hostgator hatching plan...
Love you all <3 (I'm not gay! Just to be clear! ;) :D )

Cheeeeeeers!

oh no, not the dreaded HG hatchling plan!!! Don't do it! :)

HG messed me up royally right before busy Christmas season - took down servers for 2 days and when they were back up, all my WP sites were jacked up. It was a mess.

Mate try hostwinds business hosting. You get a dedicated IP, unlimited bandwidth and no bullshit CPU limit - All at the rate of shared hosting. I was facing the same issue with another host. ever since I moved to hostwinds, everything is smooth.

I have my sites on HostWinds business hosting too. At the beginnings I was very satisfied with them: the server speed is great, and the support is awesome. But now they started sending those CPU warning messages, I already received 3 of them in the past 5 days - so unfortunately the "no bullshit CPU limit" is not true anymore :(
They just started practicing HostGator's, iPage's (and their family hostings) methods to make clients upgrade to VPS - the "bullshit CPU limit" warnings started on HostWinds too :(

My account is not exceeding any CPU limit, for sure - because I have just 3 small sites with 300-500 visits/day. I also checked my AWStats and my visits are lowered to half comparative to the past month - also my bandwith usage is only 1/3 like before. Everything is 1/3 or 1/4 comparative to the last month, when I didn't received any CPU warnings. But now they saw I am pretty satisfied with their hosting, and they thought it is time to make me to buy a VPS from them, with applying that bullshit CPU warnings method :(

I answered their warning message with asking them about these "bullshit CPU limit" - I asked them why are they using this method to make me to upgrade to a VPS - and I asked for a screenshot about where can I see this CPU usage, if it is real or not. And in this moment their "awesome support" was gone too - they closed my ticket without any answer, and sent me the 3rd warning about my CPU. I sent them the same reply here too - and of course no answer yet; until now I was receiving very fast answers from them - now they don't are closing my tickets without answers. Because they can't sustain this bullshit CPU limits, of course :)
