Hostgator totally CRAP - CONFIRMED

Host gator tried to fine me $10 when i forgot to renew a website.. so i never went back. It sounded like a dumb business practice to me. Were going to fine you... in the hopes that you come back to us an pay off the fine.... how about no, scott.

I bailed on HostGator last year when they really took a dive. Moved to HostDime, and despite a few resource limits I have been very happy. Their support is Top Notch.

Same here.

I got this email from them after really letting know how much they've fallen off the mark:

Hello,

Thank you very much for reaching out to us with your honest concerns.

I would, first, like to sincerely apologize for the delays and difficulties you have experienced. I want to assure you that we are currently in process of augmenting and training our staff drastically to accommodate. The changes being made currently should render very noticeable results in the coming month or two. We do note the areas and opportunities you have outlined where our systems can be improved. Our development team is also working to improve our internal and external interfaces to better manage the greater influx of support requests we have noticed as a result of recent growth.

Also note that we are focusing substantial attention on escalation paths, expediting feedback from our customers, and are subsequently developing strategies to improve, not only live support wait time, but also processing time and tracking for each issue. Though I am regrettably unable to provide an ETA for completion of this process, I am able to state this matter does hold a priority with us and it is being worked on even at this very moment.

Going forward, this ticket will remain, specifically, in our Customer Service Management queue, and we will receive, review and respond to any additional or persistent feedback concerns. Although our team regrettably do not have the same 24/7 availability as our support department, you may reach us directly by replying to this email. Again, we greatly appreciate your willingness to communicate your concerns. We likewise appreciate your patience as you have allowed us the opportunity to respond to your concerns. Should the need arise, I hope you will not hesitate to let me know how we can be of further assistance.

Best Regards,
Michael D.

I've been with them since 2008. Emails like the one they just sent are merely an attempt to appease customers.

The new owners are idiots, as they are only getting ready to lose all of the core customers they had.
Dumbasses, they should have just kept the SAME servers and formula that HG had.

In short they are fucking up all around the board and are about to lose me.

I've noticed longer waiting times on HG live support. They also randomly changed the PHP version on my server a few weeks ago, causing my websites to go down for days without me noticing. :(

Thats why I jumped to Knownhost, then I jumped to Rackspace, and then I jumped to wpengine.com (for wordpress apps) and then I jumped to laravel forge for custom web apps.
Many hosts sucks for high load of traffic. If you have lot of budget choose Rackspace with their heroic support. It would be about $500 / month but you will have everything run smooth.
Otherwise rent a Digital Ocean instance and upgrade everytime you get a high load traffic.
Its a big talk. If you want to have a chat about solutions then let me know.

I recommend you look into Ic Host! I currently switched from hosting gator

LiquidWebs support is epic. Also FYI about the ASmallOrange recommendation above - they are owned by Hostgator as of a few years ago
