Panda 4.0 affected Authority site. Fight back or Abandon?

Hello,

One of my money site was heavily hit by Panda.
Site is a year old with DA of 65, PA of 60 and 240 articles (~500 words).
Most of the new articles that I publish, rank easily. I'm guessing its cause of DA & PA.

The keywords for which I was ranking in top 3-10 are now on Page 2 and 3 (few 4+ and some out of the index).
I've identified 15 articles which were bringing 75% of the revenue.

Question:
1. Should I rewrite these articles into 1500+ authoritative content under same URL?
2. Should I rewrite these articles and post them under new url?
3. Should I just abandon them and concentrate on posting other articles?
4. Should I abandon the site altogether cause Panda is a site wide penalty?

P.S: I posted 30-40 articles after Panda 4.0 and 25% of the keywords already ranking in top 100.

I would really appreciate your sharing your experiences and thoughts.

Sure. I wanted other IM'ers opinion too. We always end up taking wrong decisions based on the facts we don't know.

One of my sites got a manual penalty for spammy links, I made a new one and then thought fuck it I'll appeal against it with a load of crap.

My appeal was that I got an email saying my site was going to get blasted with spammy links whatever they are and unless I paid $200 dollars to prevent my site being removed from Google etc. I explained how the site was relied upon by my family etc.

Week later they lifted it! I did no changes.

It's total BS.

Abandon ship, start again. By starting again you know you can do it all again from fresh. By fighting back, you are hoping it will regain position, which will be hit or miss.

In a way yes, but by going the other route of trying to fix the website, it all lies in Googles hands. From what I have read and experienced, Google tend to refuse most reconsiderations.

Depends on how much the site's worth.

If it's worth a lot, then go ahead and buy $ 5000 in Adwords, get an account rep, kindly exchange sexual favors for rankings. Which is how the big accounts do it.

If it's not worth your time, then burn it, churn another one out.

Fight back, I suggest you create good content, engaging ones and do social media. Keep it nice and slow and make sure that you contribute something to you niche. Join forums and create your content based on what others want. This will help you make yourself an authority on your niche. Starting over again doubles the effort so why not give it your best shot at your current site.

Are you sure it was Panda 4.0? Panda seemed to help small sites in most cases. Actually this is the first time I've heard that anyone has suffered from Panda 4.0.

There was also Payday Loans 2.0 released around the same time and some people speculate the Penguin 3.0 was around the same date (although I disagree). So many algorithm changes around the same time, I would double-and-triple-check before I made onsite adjustments.

Why not properly evaluate your Backlink Architecture?

I use a combination of SEO Power Suite and Ahrefs.com to perform this task.

Does your BL architecture look natural in the eyes of g00gle? Or, does it look like the handiwork of an unseasoned IMer?

To be honest, I think it is still really early to tell. I have a site that I thought was hit, but is slowly coming back up in the rankings. I think wait a little more to see if you bounce back at all before you redo everything.

How is that related to what I asked? Panda penalty is for content, not backlinks.

No I'm pretty sure that it was Panda. The sites that replaced me have really good content and are authority sites. I am going to write content that is going to compete with them.

As it was confirmed that there was no Penguin update, I am not sure if I should be looking at the backlinks yet.

I always hate the idea of throwing away hard work. I believe you can slowly get it back to where it was with original content. Are you hand writing your material?

Start over by transferring the content over to new domain(After old domain is deindexed). You can take a risk of redirecting to new domain but that's sometimes a hit and miss.

I think there was an unannounced update in between which targeted anchor text ratios. Pretty sure about this as one of my site with heavy anchor text ratios was pushed to page 2 and 3 while other site with diverse anchors is still thriving. So don't believe what google says.
