Guys: Kindle is the Ticket!

Pretty sure the standard rate is $1 per 100 words. Maybe writing a book in your native language would be better? It might be a smaller market but there would be less competition.

You can offer your ebook for free for 5 days but that time period is very short. I would rather offer the ebook for a low price for a few month to gather reviews. Does anyone know if Amazon will delete the reviews???

I wouldn't recommend translating a book because of copyright issues.
Honestly, your English seems good enough to write a book so maybe you could write the book yourself and then pay a native English speaker to proofread it for you.

What do you guys think about translating some horror stories from your native language, and shaping them into one? There are thousands of stories on the web from anonymous users. If we pick impressive ones, it may work.

Pretty good idea,I can definately write a 30-50 page book if it is enough and then pay someone for extra help.

No. Reviews aren't deleted if you change the price. Reviews are only deleted if they suspect the reviews aren't legit.

I haven't really heard anybody talk about how often Amazon pays out. Is it every week, bi weekly, monthly?

I remember the OP saying something about Amazon paying after the first 60 days of publishing a book. Is this true? Because if it is that's ridiculous.

It's actually a bit more than 60 days, taking up to 90. Amazon's website says: "The balance for each marketplace will be paid sixty days after the end of a month in which the balance accrued meets any applicable threshold." So if you make a sale January 1st it'll take till January 31 for the balance to become "available" then you'll be paid two months later on March 31. -- A book sold on March 20th would become "available" March 31 and be paid May 31.

If you're looking for a quick buck, you'd better look somewhere else.

Wow, that's asinine. Looks like kindle IS NOT the ticket afterall. Well so much for that ship, I guess it sailed.

That's probably the reason why nobody is really too involved with selling kindle books.

If you get paid direct into your bank account it is typically 60+ days. If you are paid by check, then it is more like 90 days.

Amazon also "holdback" 30% of your USA income for USA tax purposes, irrelevant if you are a USA tax payer or not. So if you are looking for quick cash it is not the best way, but after your first 3 months you will get a regular income.

I wrote and published a shorter non-fiction book in a lightly saturated niche but approached it from a different angle. I am on the first day of my free promo and I've gotten 515 (and rising) downloads. This puts me at #4 for my niche and #58 for nonfiction in general. If downloads keep up like this I'm expecting a top 10 book by the end of the week. From what I've read this seems abnormally high, but maybe I just picked a good topic... I'll keep everyone updated if there's anyone out there that's still interested.

If you only want a ticket for quick 'this week' money, use an affiliate program that pays instantly to Paypal. There are many tickets to actual success in IM, and Kindle is one of them as demonstrated by the many testimonials on this long thread. For people who don't or can't use Paypal, it is definitely the ticket.

Many people who have the patience to wait for the money are involved with this and similar opportunities. The best approach may be a blended one, where one works the instant payout money programs for the quick money, while putting in more substantial time for the big money found with Kindle and other Amazon commission methods.

Yesterday my book got around 1,100 downloads, but I'm looking at much smaller numbers today that I estimate will round out around 600.
