Dropped from 1st to 16th over night!

I just checked rankings of my new client (started working with 2 days ago). They pretty much dropped from page 1 to page 2 for all KWs compared to yesterday. Only a couple of KWs stayed intact and 2 KWs went up.
Other sites no problems, everything is business as usual, some KWs a bit up, some KWs a bit down, nothing special

I fear some update is happening right now, one of my client site was ranking at #4 now just went to 3rd page for no reason and its kind of a bit random.

Me too. Most of my keywrods are gone (from page 1).

Of course you can drop at the blink of an eye.
Some obvious things to check:
1. Make sure no one hacked your site and installed virus for your users to experience.
2. Check to make sure no one did a big negative SEO campaign against you.
3. If you made any changes to your site (site design, SEO, etc...) that can impact rankings and cause a google dance.
4. If google launched a new algo change.

Hey Nick ya thats the approach i did built High PR links and Web 2.0s and such and 2 of my inner pages were both ranked top 3 for about a week or 2 or so i continued building some links not many but yea both main KWS went from 3rd to mid page 3 not a clue!

One of mine has dropped from page 2 of Google (position 13) and it's no longer in the top 100. There's certainly something amiss here, and it wasn't an affiliate site. I did however use the services of two sellers on here. As an aside, one of my new sites that I threw together on Sunday is ranking on page 4 already and there's no backlinks built on it yet.
Edit- Delved a bit further and it's not even in the top 300! To say that I'm pissed off is an understatement.

The same thing happened to me. My site ranking #1,#12 and so on for few keywords suddenly disappeared and been ranking at last positions now. Some thing is really happening here it's not dance or shit.

Ditto this! Just keep building good links. I said I did rise, but there wasn't anymore depth to my comment really. Last week I did experience a drop, all I done was manually went out looking for good links and diversified my keyword anchor text and mixing it up with naked urls, lsi keywords.
Then I filtered it all down with some good social media signals, followed by 1 manual web 2.0 with an article posted everyday for 7 days and wrote manually with again, targeting exact, naked, lsi etc.
Worked for me, don't see why it wont work for others.
