Dropped from 1st to 16th over night!

Hi people, have you ever heard of a website dropping from 1st to 16th over night. I have never done any black hat link building to this website and the linking profile clean with legitimate articles linking to my articles as a reference or business directories pointing to my services page.

Any ideas or previous experiences?

Don't panic your site may just pop back tomorrow, don't do anything yet..
In the meantime check webmaster tools for any messages.
Also check your site is functioning properly. Sometimes plug in updates etc (on wordpress) can mess a site up and make it go offline so google cant crawl it or whatever.
Also check your backlink profile - a lot of motherfuckers using negative SEO now. Go on ahrefs and see if you've been spammed with 'free porn' anchors.

Hi WeBay, Thanks for replying mate. The first thing I did was check webmaster tools and no messages (phew). I also check Ahrefs / Majestic / OSE and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I track my keys with SEMRush and everything is red, with my best keywords dropping to page two (last check was 10 hours ago).

I also track my keys using rankwatch, and they haven't picked up most of the drops, but when I search manually I can see the drops.

Yeah I'm hoping it might pop back up and I'm just going to monitor it over the week to see what happens.

strange thing happened to me too yesterday , 2 sites vanished from pane 1 and 2 to nowhere , I checked webmaster tools and no messages , fuck I hope they will recover

could be a dance wait 2-3 days to jump to any conclusion. what about the other 10 results are they same if yes then it could be an algo penalty else most probably a dance.

Seem a few people have dropped in the past 24 hours. I wonder what is happening?

Mozcast doesn't say much (does it ever?) and I can't see any news on an update. Maybe something was release and it will come out soon.

Have you guys got clean linking profiles or do you buy from PBN's and web 2.0's etc?

both my sites are affiliate sites , 1 had a few spammy links and the other one only clean hand written web 2.0 and guest posts links , all keywords for both sites gone to shit .... maybe it was an update yesterday

I had one go from #2 to #35. A massive drop!

Just putting this out there. Is it possible Penguin 3.0 has hit?

I believe they were targeting exact match anchor texts and guest blog networks. I do have some articles on guest blog networks.

If you guys could confirm you also have article in guest blogging networks then I'd say that is what it was.
