Hi people, have you ever heard of a website dropping from 1st to 16th over night. I have never done any black hat link building to this website and the linking profile clean with legitimate articles linking to my articles as a reference or business directories pointing to my services page.
Any ideas or previous experiences?
When did it exactly happen?
One of my sites got hit on 13/14 May (dropped 10-30 positions). Its a mature site that has got links only from good quality articles on web 2.0s and some PBN-s. My spammy sites didn't get hit though...
I'd say the 14th for me, it's been going down since.
After assessing all my sites, I can say with confidence that PBN's are good, web 2.0 links are bad, and this would be penguin 3.0 that's hit us all with the main target for "low quality links" being web 2.0 pages or posts and websites with multiple authors being listed as guest blog networks. The funniest part is, the only keywords that dropped were the ones that either had an exact match anchor text from a spun article, or were from a website looking like guest blog network.
Please feel free to add your two cents.
How many posts do you have on your web 2.0?
Ah yes, I forgot to add it's the ones with 1 article. The web 2.0's with 6+ articles don't seem to be affected, yet. Who knows if this was the entire update also, maybe they are testing the update before unleashing the big black dildo to the streets.
Ditto this! Just keep building good links. I said I did rise, but there wasn't anymore depth to my comment really. Last week I did experience a drop, all I done was manually went out looking for good links and diversified my keyword anchor text and mixing it up with naked urls, lsi keywords.
Then I filtered it all down with some good social media signals, followed by 1 manual web 2.0 with an article posted everyday for 7 days and wrote manually with again, targeting exact, naked, lsi etc.
Worked for me, don't see why it wont work for others.
lol
Well I just done this
This worked for me, I figured that would happen with web 2.0 and it's why I put more articles on em, manually too. It makes sense that if there is a common pattern with the web 2.0 that eventually they will start to de-value the link... which now means even more manual work if you require a result... i just treat mine like a money site but not as serious.
How are you fighting back bro? if it where me, I would start diluting with social media signals.
You call this white hat?Hi people, have you ever heard of a website dropping from 1st to 16th over night. You call this white hat?
just wait for the dust to settle down and then see what happens.Hi WeBay, Thanks for replying mate. The first thing I did was check webmaster tools and no messages (phew). I also check Ahrefs / Majestic / OSE and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I track my keys with SEMRush and everything is red, with my best keywords dropping to page two (last check was 10 hours ago).
I also track my keys using rankwatch, and they haven't picked up most of the drops, but when I search manually I can see the drops.
Yeah I'm hoping it might pop back up and I'm just going to monitor it over the week to see what happens.
Well what would you call it? If he's not doing blackhat linking and he's using legitimate high quality articles, etc, then what do you call it? It might be 'grey' if he's linking too much, but if he's not spamming, etc, then it's not black either.
I've been working for over 5 months for my multi-niche site, almost all white-hat ... and Google still penalizes me? What the fuck? Really? I've been taking this route, the "safe seo", because I wanted long term profits, but seems like google still fucks me up for what? Like JournoNick said above, I'm thinking of getting in Churn and Burn right now and blast the shit of some wordpress sites/blogspots, etc.
Because ... Google penalizes us either way. Really, I worked REALLY clean and they still plays with my rankings that bad? From page 1 (4th) to page 4? FUCK THAT. Excuse my language, but really ... that is a disgrace for them. PLUS: I've been waiting for this update, really, because I was veery sure that my rankings will go UP, because almost all my competitors did CHURN AND BURN. They have spammed blogspots. And ... instead of penalizing them, they are even HIGHER in rankings. The hell, really? I can't believe this shit.
Sorry to hear that.
All I can say is there's no such this as "safe seo".
All "seo" is blackhat so why not just be true about it.
