What do you think profile links to be tier 1, and blog comment tier 2?

would you mind helping to check my site, I have ranked several micro site, but failed to rank inner page of a big site.

my question: how many links you put on each pbn? are all links put on home page?

Have you checked and made sure that no other businesses did negative SEO on you and that all of the links are still live? The SEO related websites had competition that knew about SEO, obviously, so it would not surprise me if negative SEO was done.

If you'd like, you can PM me and I'll send you a report of the links, we have an enterprise account over at ahrefs and we'd be happy to give you a report, it's not like we use our limit each month anyway.

Other than that, guest posts are still fine. Matt Cutts was referring to people blatantly spamming, but if you do it correctly and build relationships with site owners (I try to keep them in an excel document), then it's still something that is great to do.

What I would recommend you doing is to try to snatch some new domains for a new PBN, try to make sure the quality is great and don't waste your time on sites that have been used in a PBN before (check archive), check the backlinks and make sure no link building was done (www. and without) and check PR/DA/PA and don't bother with PR 1/2 DA/PA > 30 sites. DomCop is a great resource.

Thanks for the response! I did check the two websites that got the spam notification and they didn't seem to have any additional links lately. I will PM you the details because I use the free version of ahrefs and will appreciate your help!

My old PBN is mostly 70 websites that are PR 1-3's, with a DA/PA of 25+ on average and a CT/TF of 20+. I also checked all the backlinks on OSE, Majestic and ahrefs to make sure they were from real websites. Also, my PBN only had about 4-5 links on it and each website was uniquely themed with niche content. What I think happened is the 2 SEO sites pissed off some of my competitors and they reported my sites to get checked.

If my other websites don't have the manual spam action on them but lost rankings do you think I should remove the links from my PBN?

Do you use a PBN and is that effective for you right now?

How do you properly use PBN for a new site? Do you use it on your t1 sites as a buffer or do you just slip them in the 2nd month after initial link building and diversification in the 1st month?

i hear there's a big penguin update coming up, i was just about to buy seo tools that i'll need for ranking (GSA SER, VPS...), i am afraid that the update will be a bummer, and i won't get any site ranked, do you think i should just get the risk ?

Lots of links from the same domain, I wouldn't use them for my money site, but if it's a throwaway site or web 2.0, go ahead.

There are always going to be updates, and it may render some settings of automated tools useless, but if you know how to properly setup campaigns for those tools, it won't be a problem.

Well, that depends. Have you checked archive/DA/PA/PR/ahrefs with www and without? If it passes all of those checks, go ahead and use it on your money site.
If you're not so sure about the quality and just picked it up because of the PR, then use a buffer if you even use it at all.

If you have enough of a budget, form a completely new PBN.

If the sites fell and you don't want anything to do with them anymore, just delete them and use a buffer for the next sites. Link from PBN to buffer to money site, it's going to filter most of the negative link juice you're going to be getting from the PBN.

Links moving to inner pages are fine, just because it doesn't have a "PR of 5" doesn't mean it's not natural.

I'd rather have 10 posts on each page, keep posts on front page until they rank, add footer/sidebar/header links to most important sites, just edit {footer|header|sidebar}.php and it'll show up on all pages that include that element.

GSA supports some, the success rate isn't so great.

I have my virtual assistants do them.
