Do you make money from SEO?

Yes, I've made a lot from it and have also lost a lot of income when a site has been penalized.

I also see a lot of scammers selling SEO online and offline who seem to be doing well for themselves. Too bad they're scammers who don't know shit about SEO and sell it to people who know even less because it sounds good.

Is amazon an effective model to make money off of?

Not really with SEO unless you can drive a lot of traffic to it. The payout blows but sometimes you can find a decent niche where you get high ticket buyers. Personally, I don't waste my time with it.

I have all these fancy programs why aren't I making money?

The first problem is you don't know how to effectively use them. We're past the days where you could scrapebox a site to #1 for tons of keywords and bank serious cash. I stopped using link building programs a while ago. There's other ways that are more effective and longer lasting. Still can work for churn and burn sites though.

What's the best way to make money with SEO?

IMO, lead gen. There's lots of CPA offers for it and you can also sell it directly to businesses.

Didnt mean to start a fight between some of you guys. Maybe I should learn to word my titles a little better.

A quick question, as to not start a completely new thread. When you buy an expired blog, do you change the content to suit your niche, or do you re-create the same/similar content?

I keep seeing conflicting conversations on this topic. Some say if you change the content of the site to a completely different niche, it loses its PR in a few months. Others say, you need the link from the domain to be in the same niche so you need to change the content to suit your niche.

The reason I ask is I cant find any expired domains in my niche?

I build very large sites (lots of unique content and lots of pages) in the business, finance niches (niche is too small a word but that is the terminology here) and rank them for thousands of KWs. I monetize using Adsense, CPA, banner ads, local advertising, Amazon, CJ and infolinks as well as sell some personal things I have written.

Those are a strong 6 figure income and I do very little these days to update them. I do not interlink the sites although I did at one point and I periodically update them, throw some SEO at them and check them for rankings only when I see revenue slow down.

As a SEO service provider I don't do too badly either.

To be fair to the OP I think he's trying to figure out how many of us are actually making a living on SEO alone. And lets be honest, not all of us here make a living purely on SEO. In fact I'd wager that most of us just use SEO as part of a larger scheme (to rank a personal site, etc). The guys who do SEO for pay here as their primary employment are somewhat rare I think.

I agree with this. SEO is only ONE aspect of being an Internet Marketer. This is an effective strategy, but because it bases your business solely off of defeating the search engines, it can also be one of the most risky. Primarily, I feel like this, because many people lack patience. We want results NOW, and SEO, when done "correctly", takes time.

So if you ask me how much can be made online a year I'd answer the following :

** for a beginner with a couple Seo clients and 5-10 affiliate sites after expenses = $26,000 ($2000 a month Seo Clients / $1000 a month from affiliate ..... less taxes/expenses)
** someone who has been at it for 2-3 years and has 30 affiliate sites = $50,000
** someone 2-3 years + ... has good client base and has 30+ affiliate sites = $60,000 +

this is based on someone living in the USA and having USA based clients.

(and if you ask how to get Seo Clients - you start out in Craigslist and work your way up - you hit up your local Businesses - you pass out Flyers - and you tell everyone you know that your in the Seo Business)

I figured I would go to the source. It was the searches on Google and here in the Follow Along section that led me to ask the question, because I see people bragging about Affiliate revenue generated from SEO and it is peanuts. Its the internet's fault I asked you.

I've never met anyone who makes a lot of money using public software. I've never met anyone making any using public software.
Public Software have its uses but if you are trying to climb the serps, I don't think using them to link to your money site will generate any positive feedback.

A lot of people make money by selling services and link building services in IM. Very few make money climbing the SERPS. I'm one of the few ones.
