I don't really think it's that difficult to understand..
True, it may or may not be Bitcoin, but some form of Cryptocurrency WILL be around.
This thread is pointless.
You are not taking in count all the bunch of others cryptocurrencies that will work as an exchange profit between them.
Actually, I did consider that.
Please read a bit more carefully.
I never understand what people are minning ? They are giving his computer power to solve "problems" and receive bitcoins back. So that "calculations" have a value (a real value on our coin/gold etc).
Or this computers are used has botnets or there is a chance that this processing power is beeing used to break password hashs (just an example).
(please dont try to explain me what bitcoin is and bla bla bla i understand all steps i just dont understand what processing power is working on),
I do think that "things" (Gold, Dollar, Houses, BitCoins, etc.) get their value in an artificial form from the user base. NOTHING has intrinsic value. Not even Gold.
I loved the idea of a decentralized, currency that is independent from government and banks, but truth is, they will try to seize and destroy the idea (maybe not, maybe I'm wrong) but it is a threat to power and current rich fucks.
How can BitCoin (or any other currency) be really anonymous if I use it with real Life goods?
So when no one can mine who is gonna waste electricity to make calculations?
Since in future will be harder to get bitcoins by mining.

Whatever but you are overpricing the value of bitcoins for true.
Currency dead? Yeah sure. The media has been saying that since 2011.I guess no one got my joke. I will be a bit more clear. 750,000 bitcoins were stolen today. Mt. Gox shut down, over $100million worth of bitcoins gone. Currency dead. Gox CEO Resigns. Government to step in.
LOL.

Thompson 's analysis seems to provide a very reasonable explanation. You can it in the wikipedia page, scroll down to "Legal changes". In short, a law changed the "futures" contracts into "options" contracts, making it 30 times cheaper to invest. Doesn't take a genius to figure out how that drives prices up, up, up. The government revoked the law in early February, making it 30 times more expensive to invest. Guess what, that 's exactly when the market prices fell.
