I use CentOS everywhere. To answer post below, I use it since most of the commercial stuff are certified to be run on RHEL and therefore use it to my advantage. Another reason is a bit strange: I managed to break apt package manager too many times so far and am just getting sick of it. With RPM I always find a way to revert everything back to normal.

Upd: I use Debian on my servers and vps's and have no idea why people still choose CentOS for their servers. C'mon guys, Centos' default repository lacks lots of necessary stuff, such as nginx. You just have to plug in 3rd party repos and turn your system into a mess. It has RHEL as upstream with all that lawyers stuff related to huge corporations - such as the case when CentOS had crippled OpenSSL without elliptic curve algorithms because there were some obscure patent problems. Why not Debian? Is it because CPanel works on Centos only? There are other panels, and anyway, vanilla ssh console is almost always faster way to do things.

I switch between Puppy Slacko and Ubuntu (alongside windows 7) on my laptop, I use XBMCbuntu for my media center pc, and tinker with Raspbian and Pidora on a Raspberry Pi. I only use windows if I really need to.

I've heard some good stuff about Manjaro actually, looks like it's next on my list!

I have used ubuntu, fedora, opensuse, backtrack, kali linux.
But currently i use windows 7 bcoz in linux there is always problem of wifi driver, so when i will purchase external usb wifi adapter for linux i will use kali linux. Then i can do my work + hack my college pc which are running old windows xp using armitage

Using Mint on an old single core laptop to try to maximize performance. It runs Screen-Scraper just fine.

I don't like Ubuntu 13 either, Unity sucks. My home system is a Win7 where I run Virtual Box and switch between Ubuntu 10.04 LTS or 12.04 LTS for general Unix plinking around. I have two VPS systems where on one I run a LAMP stack on Ubuntu 12.04 server for Prosper202 tracking software and on the other I run Centos 6.4 for Zpanel hosting.

I'm not against Ubuntu or Unity in any way. I mean, I love updates. I'm just not sure I want to believe it's the best, just because it's arguably the most popular.

I've been running Manjaro for about a month now. Haven't been using it every day, and it took ages to do some simple things, like set my screen resolution, and install LAMP.

But in spite of all that, I really like it. It just has a different vibe, compared to some of the other Linux distros I've used. I don't know what it is. I feel as if it hasn't sold its soul yet

So there's my update for now. I am looking to give CentOS and OpenSUSE a try, in the near future. They are somewhat bigger, bandwidth wise, and I already use too much internet for my ISP's liking, apparently.

Currently running WindowsXP, though if there is any faster Linux OS that can get the job done as XP, i would definitely try it out.

I prefer to you CentOS 7, minimal, command line interface! It is easily hosted any where, on a server, on a desktop or in a VM; it just works! Plus, there are no slow downs unlike in Windows and sometimes even OS X.

I stopped using Linux for a while, after I started doing more Photoshop work, where Gimp just wouldn't cut it. I'm keen to start checking out distros again, I know there's gonna be at least a couple of updates since last I checked.

For desktops, Kubuntu (Ubuntu + KDE) is perfect for me. I much prefer the interface over Ubuntu's Unity. For servers, Ubuntu or Debian is preferred, but I'll deal with CentOS if it's absolutely necessary for a particular app.

I have been using Debian and Ubuntu for a while and i must say that i feel that debian is easier and loads faster. I was thinking of trying any other linux os but for now its been these two.

i use kali linux. it's the best for an administrator and for all black hat operations (i use it whitehat) but if you are going to use it as your personel computer's operating system, I would recommend UBUNTU.

I use Linux Mint 17 64Bit MATE edition, I was using the Cinnamon edition until a few weeks ago, but it was slowing my computer down like crazy( I have an ssd and a i7 4710hq laptop)

I'm surpised Adobe hasn't released an edition for linux, so many people have been wanting one for years.

I've been meaning to switch away from Fedora, but it was my first distro and I feel committed.

If I was to start over, I would go with Mint or Xubuntu.

I run my servers on Ubuntu LTS because there's lots of how-to tutorials floating around and I always needs them. If I'm deploying a VOIP app, I use CentOS because it seems pretty standard in that industry.
