Lately I saw a competitor's site climbing into page 1 in my market niche ( medium-difficult market )
I've used ahrefs and majestic to check on this site but they show that there isn't any backlinks built. Thus I suspect they are using 301 redirects to rank.

Anyone knows if there is any website/software/method to find the domains that 301 to this main ranking website?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, they will show up in ahrefs as 301's.. unless ahrefs is blocked from the site that is the source of the 301, in which case, you'll never really know :)

You can also check Open Site Explorer but as tony_d stated, if OSE is blocked, you won't see the 301.

Probably links are from they websites and all this websites have blocked Link recherches bots. Fore example I once see very hard keyword from financial niche that 100% generic anhors.

Good info for OP..:)

yes, open site explorer will show u if there is a 301 redirect,i can see it on my redirects too :)

Ahrefs is the best site for analyzing the backlinks of competitor, it also shows you the 301 redirect links so try to analyze it again.

I can't find anything on Open site explorer guys.. Like I said earlier, they blocked OSE as well.

Nothing fishy in their robots.txt as well...

If its not showing then there is other method. Collect all the backlinks from the Open site explorer and then download then "Screaming frog" and put all the backlinks there and analyze the 301 links. The "Screaming frog" will also show you the 301 redirect links.

Sure, but it's not their robots.txt that will block ahrefs et al - it's the robots.txt or htaccess of the sites that are actually 301'ing in... the crawling is blocked at the source of the links, not the destination. So you will really never know...

its just like tony_d stated. The site that has the 301 redirect blocked all these SEO crawlers. No way to find out with what you mentioned. Good way to stop your competition snooping

Might seem strange but there are 1000s of sites ranking without any backlinks recently as competitors have all been penalized and their own sites are considered clean and more content rich.

It blocked the seo crawlers means the crawler of search engine robots not the software robots. The software will go to each link and will also analyze it that its 301 redirect or simple static links.

The crawlers are blocked, they do have backlinks, you can't see them on ahrefs, the google crawlers can.
