There is a difference between being "good" or "bad" as the OP rightly points out.

The two main factors are scale: - How often you usew the same content. 10 times? Ok. 200 times? Likely not
and.
The effort you put into the opening paragraph. I tend to have 5 spun sentences as a minimum on the opening paragraph, 60-100 words.
It takes maybe 30 minutes to set up.

And yes - it's not a technique for churn and burn sites really.

I'm going for 2x use per article (once on money site, once on a web 2.). I figure this is the safest way, and I don't want to get too greedy.

Also, I don't spin the first paragraph. Do you see long term success with spinning?

Update:

Sorry it's been a while since I updated the thread, I just been busy with work.

I haven't created any more properties, but not all of the previously created properties have been indexed yet, and I've seen ranking fluctuations that usually end up in the same position.

For example, my main keyword dropped out of the SERP completely for a few days and re-appeared today in the same spot. As for SERP changes, the keywords i've been tracking have stayed the same since I last updated the tread except for I'm now ranking for a new keyword that's pretty promising.

This is a good secondary keyword that looks like "Sell *product* *city*". It popped up on the first page out of no where.

I plan to be more aggressive with this in the near future so stay tuned.

Update:

So I did 25 more web 2's over the passed 2 weeks using articles that were posted to the websites blog first, and adding the tier 2 of all the web 2's I've built thus far. The second tier consist of wikis (mostly d.of0llow), automated web 2's with highly spun content, article submits (high spun), document share. No blog comments because I stopped believing in that 2 years ago.

SERP changes:

Main keyword, which is "sell *product*" has hit the #1 spot for a few days, then danced around and returned to #1. The position is looking more stable by the day. This is amazing to me because it didn't require much work and effort.The second keyword hit #2 in organic rankings as well as #1 in local 7 pack, but the local rank is because of other localSEO techniques that I've been doing over the course of the last few months, so I'm not sure if i can attribute that to these backlinks.

The good secondary keyword that I mentioned in my last post went from #10 to #6

End Result:

This client has been seeing a very noticeable increase in business coming in, in call volume, online quote requests and walk ins.

I'm hoping this study helps out the community!

Nice. Ive been waiting for the update. I am actually testing it myself, my SERPs are increasing too. However, I diversified the backlinking with syndicated articles and unique ones..

The site I tested this on did have existing backlinks, but the SERP movement I reported in this study is due to ONLY the syndicated web 2's. Also, glad to hear you having success with this method too!

I noticed the same thing last week when i was analysing some competitors backlink profiles. I noticed some of them used a lot of these website : http://wikkelen-info.expertpagina.nl/ (this is just a random link, not my website and not a real competitors just an example)

The point is all these websites where filled with syndicated content from the money site and are helping greatly in the rankings.

Is it realy that easy?

Edit: Also i cheked the contend with copyscape and found much much more of these sites all filled with the same content.

Syndicating content on Web 2.0's should work out too based on a similar concept,but there are still variables that we need to uncover

The reason for web 2.0's being better than Press Releases for SEO purposes is that links in a PR are encouraged to be no follow, and web 2.0's can be d.of0llow. Im an advocate for the fact that dof0llow links being the only actual useful links.

It's not about being easy or not easy, it's about looking natural. If you don't use the same content over and over then it looks fine. I only use an article twice for this method so make sure nothing fishy is picked up by their algo. And giving the web 2.0 some unique commentary can help against manual reviews.

It is a very simple method, but it has proven to me that it's effective.

Excellent study dude. This is something I have on my list of projects to set up a trial of as I had a hunch it may be useful. Great to see it in action then!
One thing I thought about was using a further tier to the web2.0 'syndicated' articles which would be an exact repeat process but 'shrunk' yet one more time to ~150 - 300 words. While I realize this is adding an extra workload / time I figured is that it will add another level of protection for long-term staying power. What's your thoughts on this? Unnecessary extra work or worthwhile?

The tier 2 method that you're talking about is cool, but:

Iit would require the article to be used an extra time.

It really wouldn't add so much to the tier 2 since you would theoretically just have 1 extra tier 2 link per article, so Im not sure it's worth it.
