This afternoon-session will be spent reading an article on MOZ called "beginners guide to SEO". Sounds like a done deal!

-UPDATE DAY 1-
Alright, yesterday was the start of my so far miniscule journey into the world of SEO and IM.
What I've learned so far is that SEO is tricky business, to say the least. The only surefire way to learn it is by doing it.
So, to learn SEO I need an idea for a profitable website.
I had a niche in mind until this point, I used the Keyword Planner tool by google for the first time (yaay I learned something new!) and realized that the keyword had about 3000 monthly searches globablly. A very small niche, in which I'm confident I could get a website to at least top 10 search results within a few weeks.
Question is; will it be profitable? The niche I have in mind is VEEERY thin, and I don't see how I could sell anything to people surfing this keyword... Hm. My journey will continue, and I will keep profitability in mind when looking for new keywords.
So, what next?
While keeping the keyword search going, I will try to get into the content creation game. I have my way with words and realized that I could make some semi-decent money just by writing articles for other people.
Question of the day: How the hell does one get into the content writing game?
The subforum for this is filled with people having 5-star rated threads with reviews coming out of their armpits, I couldn't find a newbie content writer even when specifically looking for one.. sigh.
Until I'm able to send private messages (I bet you $100 that I'm the only user registered in 2008 who has yet to unlock this feature) I'll fish for threads where I can get my questions answered.
I've also been running an AMF bot and now I have 21k points there. I'm sure they'll come in handy sometime.

You can start selling content by setting up a BST but you need jr vip status + 100 posts

Woke up with a swollen throat and generally felt beat-up, SICK-DAY HYPE!
I got a few messages from fellow BHW users, to think that anyone would want to have anything to do with a scrub like myself is really heartwarming.
Please bear in mind that I can't respond to PMs yet. I've added a few people to skype but I would guess there is some time zone differences to overcome, hehe.

So far I've done very little actual planning as to what my journey will contain and what methods I'll use, mostly because I have no methods in store yet.
Which is why I'm trying to get into the content creation game first. I think it will help me get a grip on what kind of niches other people are making money in, and what kind of content is worth the most.
There's a looooot of questions still in my head about the actual money-making behind a lot of the journey threads I'm browsing to keep myself motivated. I do understand that secrecy is important when it comes to any blackhat/manipulative way of making money and that giving out specifics of your projects is plain stupid, but without any kind of example of websites, blogs, youtube videos etc. it's very hard to get more than a vague general understanding of the whole thing.
I'm certain I'm not alone in feeling this way, and to get into the game without having seen a single concrete example of what you're about to do requires an idea and niche set in stone, which I currently lack.
So, in short, until I have a great idea for a niche, I'll stall the whole SEO part of my journey.
I am however gathering a lot of great knowledge to use for later. Most of the things I learn, though, are too specific. I need to learn how to create a basic webiste. I found something called WAMPserver, which would allow me to mess around with website creation (and WordPress) locally, and if I understand things correctly I will not need to have a domain or hosting to do so. I think it'll be a great place to start.
Will try to install and get to know WAMP today, unless I feel too sick.

Well, if you want to start blogging I would recommend you start with a subject you are passionate about, and enjoy writing about. It will make it much easier to get started. After that you can move onto other niches and look for the higher paying ones. In the meantime, while you are playing around with WAMP and WordPress, and thinking of niches, you should have a look at some methods here that don't require a website or specific knowledge. There are a lot of them around, using youtube, social media etc.
Also, I hope you start to feel better soon. Being sick just as you are embarking on your voyage into IM can't be good.

Ran into some trouble while setting up WampServer, apparently my port 80 was crowded with services and preventing Wamp from running correctly.
Solved the problem, installed WampServer and Wordpress all by myself. Headache replaced with unwarranted pride.
As a newb, gold is in the small battles won.

In that case, I think that sites like iWriter, DemandStudios, and oDesk + Elance might work for you. The first two allow you to submit your articles, and people may then pick them up for a price, and/or place orders (I haven't used either though so don't take my word for it). The latter two are just freelance job platforms where you could find someone to hire you as a writer (start with small 'fixed price' orders and make sure you can deliver).
Just by browsing the popular requests on those sites you may get a good idea concerning niches where people are actually willing to pay (sometimes decent money) for articles.
