Yes, but regarding backlinks to not follow me strictly, make your own twists, that's the best.

Seeing that this thread was started over a month ago, is this the proper pace to keep to ensure longevity of our sites? Seems like a lot more could've been done within this time period. However, I'm just a noob still learning the ropes, so forgive me if I'm wrong

Yes a lot more could have been done but it wouldn't have been safe/effective. You need to make a site look as natural as possible. Let it slowly build up.

I'm very interested to see how well this will work out for newer folks as they generally won't have access to QUALITY backlinks from authority sites. I have read that in lieu of purchasing the backlinks, ppl are trading those links for high quality articles. Hopefully Marrrko will touch upon varying concepts of how to trade for services vs buying them as most noobs have very limited start-up cash

Adwords tool is pretty much the same, even better, with different interface, but that's pretty much all.
Regarding web 2.0 post it here and i will help you.

For MSN you don't need those kind of links, you can rank it with good web 2.0, original articles for links and other major type of links, like press release, guest posts etc.

I do not use any software. It brings good results but on short term and i don't like it.
All work is hand made.

UPDATE:


After a month or something i already have indexed 118 backlinks, and major G dance, please take a look:

What i did:

First Tier
- I made 5 web 2.0 Properties (Blogspot, Tumblr, Squidoo, Hubpages and Livejournal) all unique articles (around 5-6 per blog) unique video, unique images, fully optimized blogs, which i want to get ranked also by time, to get traffic and more juice for my main domain.

Second Tier
- I put all these links on first tire: 35 indexed high PR press release, 35 high PR article directories, 35 high PR web 2.0 Properties, which is 105 handmade backlinks in total for now. I missing 2-3 backlinks to get them indexed also.


Next thing is third tier, which will be updated in coming days and weeks with new ranking and probably first visits / click / $$$$
