Testing: Syndicating articles for easy web 2.0 content.

This is something I have thought about since the beginning of learning SEO. It logically didn't make sense for syndicating to be a bad thing. Everyone has always preached against it and I was afraid to screw up, so I never tried it. I'm definitely going to start doing this myself.

Big Update (SERP Changes):
I made another 10 Web 2's with syndicated articles from my Money Sites blog 3 days ago, then increased the tier 2 to include an average of 20 do-follow wiki's, 50 social bookmarks, and 10 automated web 2's for each of my web 2's.
SERP change (Finally):
Main keyword, which is "Sell *product*" has jumped from floating around the top half of page 2 to a stable position #6 on page 1.
Second Main keyword, which is another "Sell *Product*" keyword, went from position #7 on page 1 to position #2 on page 1 and seems to be holding it's position so far.
A few secondary keywords have also seen some slight increases.
This looks VERY promising so far, but please take this study with a grain of salt, because these serp changes are still fresh, and I'm unsure about the long run.

Nice. Ive been waiting for the update. I am actually testing it myself, my SERPs are increasing too. However, I diversified the backlinking with syndicated articles and unique ones..

There are thousands of syndication news sites that are ranking really well. I have even seen aggregates websites being listed as one of Top XX sites fo plenty if niches buy major newspapers like the Times.
Its all about how you set it up.

Web 2.0 > Money site anchors are a mix of money keywords. The site's backlink profile is already fairly diverse so using money keywords is a safe bet.
Tier 2 > web 2.0 anchors used were a huge mix of keywords that related to the niche, but no main keywords were used in the anchors.
I plan on doing a huge tier 3 blast in the next 2 days. Will update on that as well.

The 20 web 2's with more syndicated articles from the sites blog were created yesterday with the tier 2 of bookmarks right now. I'm sure these havent been indexed yet, but I want to report a

Main keyword has went from #6 to #4 today. Keep in mind that this is a competitive keyword. Its "Sell *product*" and it's responsible for a nice chunk of income.
So far, a little over a month after penguin 2.1 and the main keyword is almost back to its original SERP position due to this method. Other keywords still have a way to go, but this is looking good.
Looking forward to report more as the new web 2's start getting indexed and I add to their second tier.
Again, take this study with a grain of salt because it's new. I don't know the impact of this in the long run. Also, this isn't an "end all" solution to link building. The website I'm testing this out has a link profile consisting of many different types of links that are responsible for its ranking to even come close to page 1 for this niche.

Super interesting. Nice study man. Seems like a great easy thing to throw in to your backlink profile and anything to save writing content...

Update: About half of the last batch of 20 web 2's with syndicated content has been indexed.
SERP update:
My websites home page was ranking for the main keyword, but now the ranking for that KW changed to an inner page, but that inner page is more relevant to the keyword than the homepage, so it's actually a good thing.
Could Google be doing something right?

Ok I want to get this straight to make sure I am not missing something here.
Essentially you are creating a blog network consisting of Web 2.0 properties, then you are copying articles from the site you want to rank and placing them on these web 2.0's. You then add a little commentary to the "syndicated" article and it has helped you move to page 1 for a competitive keyword?

There is a difference between being "good" or "bad" as the OP rightly points out.
The two main factors are scale: - How often you usew the same content. 10 times? Ok. 200 times? Likely not
and.
The effort you put into the opening paragraph. I tend to have 5 spun sentences as a minimum on the opening paragraph, 60-100 words.
It takes maybe 30 minutes to set up.
And yes - it's not a technique for churn and burn sites really.

Correct. I figured that the internet was full of syndicated content so it's worth a shot. Also I keep mentioning that people shouldn't take this study toooo seriously yet, because it's still new. For all I know, the site will be penalized next week, but if not, then the community has a new method to help them rank while adding content to their sites.

I have achieved similar results primarily with press releases I just didn't know if Google somehow separated "news sites" from other sites like web 2.0's or smaller self hosted sites. Apparently they do not know the difference and individuals can sort of create a buzz around their site all by themselves.
The results die off if you dont keep hammering the sites with these "syndicated releases" in my experiences. Remember one of Google's signals includes freshness so perhaps these syndicated articles are giving the site a boost, I dont doubt it one bit. Just keep hitting it and see what happens.
