how many you are expecting?
and when did it Happened? your BL service?

I take some time links to appear in webmaster tools.

Normally they appear within one month period, the time depends on where the backlinks coming from, the authority of the website from which the backlinks are made.

Also try to Ping Your Backlinks if its still don't appear.

Can take a long time and often they dont even show them all. My site has 6000 but google shows around 200 at most.

If it's a new site, then it does take 2 to 3 weeks for them to start showing, sometimes more. If it's an old site, then there might be something else wrong with it.

Webmaster tools is alway missing info for my site or giving weird results. For instance on mine it says 0 pages are indexed under index status, but under sitemap index status it has says almost all of the links that I've submitted are indexed.

I set up WMT a few months ago, I have another site on there too, but that one has all the backlinks... it s kind of weird.. how to ping my backlinks.

gee..... then I have to hold on my back links cleaning job?

yeah it takes lot of time for google webmasters to show backlinks
you can try ahrefs .. it might give u an rough idea about ur no. of backlinks!

still now showing... can I email google to request those links?

There is a bug in WMT, was a while they reported it.
Guess they havent solved it yet.

WMT shows less than half the backlinks on all of my sites. It's the most unreliable backlink checker on the net.

NO DON'T DO THAT

If you request wmt to show you your backlinks your acknowledging that you have them.

Since natural backlinks are made by third parties of their own free will, you, in theory, should not know you have any until wmt shows that you do.

I have a few sites that don't display it and they are 3+ years old. No penalties or anything, I think that they randomly choose to not show link data for certain profiles.

And that, of course, is a feature not a bug. They don't want you tracking links with any level of precision, thus you need to pay a subscription at majesticseo....

Google webmasters was never intended to display backlinks to your site. It was only made to give you a sample. To get a better understand of your backlinks you will of course want to use site such as ahrefs, opensiteexplorer, and majesticseo

It's a weird thing that i think more of a bug in GWT than a problem with the links - i have a site that is an old domain with legit old natural links along with some unnatural ones that has no link display in GWT - 0. I can't explain it other than this is a bug. But your situation may be different - your links may not have been pulled up yet to your GWT especially if you built them just recently. Check if opensiteexplorer or ahefs found them already.
