How much would you be willing to pay
a content writer for quality articles for your website?
I have been checking this forum and most people just
want to pay writers peanuts but they want high
quality articles. Why are website owners paying writers such low rates?

$1 per 100 words. The market makes the rates. You have to adapt and evolve.

If you're an educated, native speaker with a relatively high level of intelligence, you should be getting around $4-$5 per 100 words. This is the price for articles that readers are actually going to like. If you're just writing for the sake of filling a website with content, then $1/100 is the going rate.

Unless your a graduate from a top university then people on here won't pay no more than $1-2 per 100 words.

$10 for a uniquely well researched 500 word article written by a native speaker and good writer

It depends on the niche.

In some niches I prefer to write my own articles since I like the topic, in some others I have no choice.

But $1 per 100 words is the average right now, and lower if you order bulk.

You have to market yourself, forget about "the market makes the rates". NO, it's you that make rates.

Don't be angry at people that pay $1/100 words. It makes no sense. You shouldn't care about that. The more writers decide to work for $1/100 words, the better for you. WHY?

Cause there is less competition. They can work for peanuts, you don't have to.

But if you wanna be that writer that ask $50-$100/article you should stop complaining and asking why people write for peanuts. Who cares. If you wanna present yourself as a go-to writer for high ballers you should delete this thread and all the whining you left across the net, cause great writers do not whine, they are full of orders, heck you even reject 90% of orders....

Now go, create an awesome site, try to push your articles at some top-tier sites and you have your portfolio.

The price on English articles are extremely low! I'm a 16 year old buy in Denmark, and running a freelance writing business, and i'm charging $8-10/ 300 words, and i'm one of the cheapst.

OP, I can ask the same question about the web designing. Why people want to pay only $50 for website ? Do you think this is fare :)

I only work with family and friends. When I need a bunch of content written, I hire my family. My girlfriend is also very fast at writing articles. So, that's a huge plus. For a bulk package of articles, I pay them $100 for 15. I pay $6.67 per article according to that. But I don't order less than 15.

You set your own rate
Then if your good people will hire you
If not
Then join the ranks for $1 per 100 words writers

There are people who pay $5 per article, and there are those who pay 10x that amount. The question shouldn't be how much people pay their writers, but rather, at which price point you are going to position yourself, as a writer.

I've paid $50 for 500, but if the quality is right, I have no problem paying $100 for 500.

So how do you know who is a top level graduate?
Anyone can say anything here!

My cousin in-law just graduated from Berkley, and is now going to law school up in Washington. He wants to get into IM, and I told him since hes a good writer he might do well on BHW. His account on here is cecatuna if you want to hit him up.. I'm sure he doesn't have a problem showing some graduation pics are whatever you need to confirm his credentials.

I am not angry at them, I am just trying to understand why clients pay low rates.
Is it that they have a low budget or is it that they are just unwilling to pay writers more?
Actually, you seem to be the one who is angry and nope, not going to delete this thread.

people pay low rates for crap writing, if you're good go write for cracked, they pay very well ($100-$1000 per article)
if you're mediocre, get something published at a gawker site , if that's a bit above your skill level write for huffpo (15 posts per day and you might make 30k a year if they pay you)
if you aren't that good, write for associated content or the AP, (you might get $10 for an article)
if you suck, open a service thread here and get $1/100 words

this is because unless there is something really special about your writing, you compete with every highschool graduate in the usa and england, writing is like cooking, unless you're something special you're gonna be flipping burgers, we can all do it
