How i copy wordpress site to another domain

hello

recently i try to copy wordpress site to another domain. what i do i upload all the file from site ABCD.COM TO EFGH.COM
what i understand its wrong method . so i wanted to know how i copy ??

i have one domain name say abcd.com and one efgh.com
i wanted to copy abcd.com to efgh.com

pl advice me.

It's not quite as simple as moving the files - you need to preserve the database structure.

manual way: export the original database, edit the sql file to reflect the new home directory (/home/old_name-to-new_name/public_html/) - replace all founds.
Exports all WP files, edit the wp-config.php (change the db name, db user and db password to new settings for new host)
Upload the db and files to your new host.

I do mine manually but I'm from a systems architecture background so I should know what I'm doing. It's actually easy but I can see how a total novice would get stuck. For that reason I would suggest going with one of the backup / move utils that a lot of people use. I personally don't like unnecessary plugins on an already bloated framework like WP.

2 ways:

1 - Backupbuddy plugin
2- Copy the all files from the FTP, then go to cPanel --- PHPmyadmin , select the database the site is using then export it, you will get a .sql file. The transfer the files to the new hosting, cPanel-- PHPmyadmin, upload the database, then in mysql create a username to that database. Then input the database, username and password in the wp-config file, and done!

As you can see 1st way is the easiest!

I tell you how to do it:

1. Install the plugin "BackWPup".
2. Login to wp-admin and navigate to BackWPup.
3. Create a job and select all the stuff you want to backup (do not forget database AND all files).
4. Download the backup to your computer.
5. Upload all the files from the backup to your new webserver.
6. When you try to connect to your new domain, you will get a database error.
7. Go to cPanel, click "Backups" and then restore your database using the "xxxxxx.sql" file which was also in the zip folder that you downloaded via "BackWPup". Check for that file, and upload it in the "Backups" option in cPanel.
8. Now you need to create a new user in cPanel Databases and assign that user to the database you just backed up. Just choose a new random password for that user.
9. Now go to your wordpress folder on your new webserver and open "wp-config.php".
10. Put the new username and password of your database there, save the file and re-upload it to your new webserver.
11. Visit your domain! Voila!

I used WPBackup a lot and still use it for daily/weekly backup.
But if you want to create an install file that create a copy of your old WordPress: download Duplicator.

Free & reliable, it will ask for your the domain (very good if you changed it) and new DB information.

This is a truly awesome plugin.
