I cannot believe how some members make such assumptions:

It continues to amaze me to see how many webmasters still use Google Analytics.

Google keeps scaling back on the data they'll let us see but millions of webmasters just keep using GA and handing all of their data to the big G on a silver platter.

Are pretty graphs worth enough to help G while they stab webmasters in the back again?

I stopped using GA a few years ago and have not looked back.

I use clicky for my BH sites but it doesn't provide a clear picture of my traffic. Also, conversion is extremely important and Google Analytics does provide very useful data for this area.

What will clicky do if google hides all search terms?

I use Piwik. It's free and it does everything I need it to.

Use all the fancy third party tools you want, it won't help. Google is encrypting keyword searches and that means you won't be able to see refering terms no matter what tool you use.

It's not just GA that it affects. It will affect every traffic tracking tool. You will not be able to pull any search data now. So like for the past 2 years or so you have had the '(not provided)' data for the majority of keywords it will be 100% like that from now on.

Like some others have said though I didn't really use that data for my black hat sites. It may affect me in the future when I come to run a proper site and want real data but I suppose there's not much we can do now.

Not a problem for me and I have not used Giggle ANALatics for more than 2 years.
I got tired of sending Matt CUNTs data that was/could be used to affect my SERPS and other reasons.

Review Awstats and Logaholic each week/month for the keywords.

Thank you for stating the obvious. When you're up to speed on what we were actually saying you'll realize I was simply talking about wanting to ditch GA, in addition to the thread's topic.

Whether Google can further track your website when it has GA/Webmaster tools installed is debatable but I can completely deny Google that possibility if I stop using GA.

On the positive side, now all that will matter is getting your clients increased overall organic traffic No more non-branded, organic traffic.

Plus, we can always use Yahoo and Bing to get some idea of search volume for keywords. Not the best, but at least an alternative for doing some keyword research.

Don't care at all. They're making Keyword Planner more accurate with every update. Focus on rankings, the traffic will, guaranteed.

They are focusing on paid ads more. This is another big change for IM. On the other hand, there are alternative tools for keyword research. SEM Rush is one. Affilorama keyword tool is also one alternative to do keyword research and get a lot of results.

The problem IS a current one, google just decided to take things up a notch by blocking 100% of all searches instead of just a big portion.

I also don't see how buying adwords ads is a fix all solution. Personally, i like to watch my long tails to see which topic is juicy enough to warrant further investigations. It's also known, that CTRs for adwords ads are different than for organic search ...and there are many more other reasons why this is not a solution. I for one do not want to spend additional money on search data because it takes away the cash needed for content and link development (which has to be proper these days for longer lastin g rankings)

@ lancis- for me piwik has too basic metrics. Yandex metrica is very similar to analytics, you can check demographic parameters such as age, gender, there is a click map, in traffic sources are social networks, really similar to analytics. and you dont have to upload it to the server, just need to paste a code. so i switched from piwik and i am quite happy

Well you clearly lack the experience with adwords. Yes ctrs are different, that goes for every single phrase in existence when compared to organic listings vs ppc. Instead of wasting your *TIME* pouring over search data, you can collect the data yourself and find out if the listings are even worth pursuing in the first place before you even start to spend a single penny on content/link building.

THIS encryption is not going to impact me in the least but you make it sound like it is going to destroy your business because how angry you are getting with your posts on this forum.
