Getting My Start On Tumblr

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums and to SEO/Blogging. I am getting my start on Tumblr simple because I had a small following before I decided to pull in more traffic. Lucky for me, my husband is helping me with posting stuff. We have a NSFW blog and post some of our own pictures. We've gotten a pretty amazing response so far...especially considering we are a "curvy couple" After just three days we already have 166 followers. And this is from posting legitimately. No bots. Would using bots kick up the traffic more, I should I continue with what we are doing and let it build on it's own? I'm not 100% sure where I want to go with this, but right now I'm just building the following.

I've been digging through the forums the last few days trying to sort through the good advice from the bad, get informed on different techniques, etc. We may want to move to YouTube next, but that won't work so well with a NSFW niche, haha! But we are very determined to do what we love, and that is either sex or video games =D We also like to cook too, though all of these niches seem so..saturated, I guess would be the word.

Go Ahead do work both on Youtube and tumblr. Drive traffic to your facebook pages from tumblr. Use Facebook page SFW. Just teasing Images an videos (Dont go bold). Else experiments are best on your own.

Keep doing work hard for building the followers. I assure you if you get more than 5K followers on your tumbler page then you will be able to earn more than 50$ per day. But this need hardworking and bot free followers.

Hey, any advice you could give would be much appreciated. As I said, right now we are focusing on building legitimate traffic. It's going slow but it's coming. I'm still not sure exactly where to go next. I think I may start doing YouTube with SFW videos and using that to promote the blog.

When should I focus on getting a domain? Or should I jump right into making a website? I taught myself HTML and CSS about two years ago. I haven't really applied it to anything. I'm horrible with the designing part of it : /

I'm expecting to fail this go around but I want to learn as much as I can during this process and despite expecting to fail, I'm not giving up.

That's what we are doing now. Spending hours posting original content and reblogging. We are also connecting with a few of our voewers as well.

Honestly, we are trying to stay away from Facebook for now. It is too risky at this point. I tried to do it before and my account was locked in less than 24 hours. I wasn't spamming or mass adding. Not really sure how they figured it out.

I know that not using Facebook is cutting a lot of traffic..which sucks...but I need to learn more before I attempt it.

I guess I should give a little update. Today we are up to 255 followers. Slow..but they sre coming. We tried Craigslist and it broughtin a few more. Most responses were useless.

Exactly! I feel as though working with a NSFW site, I am pretty limited. I can't even touch Google anything. Some of the adult ads I've seen are just embarrassing and I have yet to find something worth doing. Then Tumblr is pretty strict as well. We are planning on starting a second site, once we get the hang of this, that won't be a NSFW site. I think it will open a lot more doors to pull in traffic and start making money.

We are four followers away from 300. Our goal is to get those last four tonight. We haven't been doing much the last two days but the followers are coming. If we worked more I think we'd have more followers. We are hoping to start on YouTube but need better equipment.

Can I hire a mentor?? lol..This stuff is tough and I have millions of questions!

Even if we get shut down, I still have pretty amazing followers that I've been slowly building rapport with. If the site fails, I'm sure I could easily get them to come to a site that is off Tumblr. I'm not pushing out random garbage, and I feel that by communicating to them, I am giving them a reason to come check out or page or drop a message to say "hey".
