Great thread, netmoney. Would you care to share some of your bulk envelope stuffings?
All I can say is offline mailing conversion rate is way better than cold call and emailing. I tried it and it convert ard 3-5%, also depending on the sale letter. I normally do not sell my service, and rather "lure" them to call me instead![]()
One point to add is that I put a RED "Urgent" wording stamped on the envelope as in my country it usually a warning letter or reminder letter from gov authority sectors, and inside the letter I will explain why the urgency as if their company continue not to seriously looking at their current situation, their competitors will.
This is a brand new "industry" that we are targeting - and a new mailer - all in total the cost is $416.82 (plus the cost to have them addressed) so it comes in just under $1 per.
Is there a specific day of the week you find has better conversion rate? Thanks in advance.
I try to avoid Monday and Fri delivery. Really depends on where they are going...if it is a targeted drop in the same city...or a widespread one...
The USPS is slacking a lot lately...I have noticed even mail delivery within the same city is taking days when it used to be right away.
Yes I agree, USPS is definitely slacking these days - I have mail being sent within the same city and it's taken 2-3 days recently for it to arrive. In the past it was more like 24 hour delivery within the same city.
I guess it's due to budget issues, staff,etc..?
Thanks for the insights. I am a little surprised by your answer. I have a slightly different POV on this. For me, local delivery (same city) usually takes 2 days. I was under the impression that Monday and Friday aren't the best for conversion, so I hope the letter will be opened on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
So If I mail out on Friday, then they will probably get it on Tuesday (or Wednesday at latest)
If i mail out on Monday, they get it on Wednesday (or Thursday at latest)
Again, I don't know. I am also testing various things here and there. Just want to share my thoughts on this also.
Quite a big risk if it were me. That said, I wish you all luck in this venture.![]()
You gain nothing without taking risks.
Good luck netmoney1, insightful and encouraging tactics on optimizing this marketing channel. Using different 800 numbers for each variable of the mails to find which combinations convert the best is high level stuff.
Not sure where the confusion is...I stated I like to try to avoid Monday and Friday delivery...meaning that I don't want it to be received on the first or last day of the week.
Nice strategy, good luck![]()
Oh, I am very sorry. I had no idea what I was thinking. My bad!
Great strategy even it's a test for you that's a big deal for me. I am excited to see results![]()
Looking forward to the results as well, best of luck!
I know you don't wish to divulge your sales copy in the letter, but roughly how many words are you handwriting? If I were to do this, my handwriting sucks, would that be something to avoid doing?
