Ahh gotcha. In that case, I assume that all your mail copies are VERY general then, with no personalization? Do you say something corny like: "Dear valued customer, ..."?

Nah, I stay away from corny lol...if its a super targeted drop we try to get it as personalized as possible.

FYI- We are going to try the envelopes that look like government or official checks- a friend of mine does this in the mortgage industry..huge open rate as you may imagine.

I am not writing it to offense you, but I will create my offline IM company (with some variation) and will like to read every REAL experience I can :)

Yeah I know financial companies that use the ones with the perforated edges - they look like the envelopes that tax refund checks come in. They get big open rates because of the curiosity factor. I'd really like to find one of those printers to start working with. I have some crazy ideas to use them for.

So you don't analyze and tailor each letter with hand-written notes - pointing out their neg rep, or low ranks etc. (you know... like what 7878 did in his first post etc.)? Just curious.

On some. We do several different mailings. Depends on what we are targeting service wise. This example is more of a general offering, directing them to a specific 800 number to track this particular mailing.

No, he is not affiliated with us. He was simply stating a particular mail piece that he is going to try out.
 
Good luck with your mail out, going to be very interesting to see what converts best from a mail basis. Great test!
 
UPDATE: Mail is sent...

The "insert" that we went with for this test was a bit bulky...so we had to use the 66 cent stamps...so instead of the $230 for postage it ended up being $330....so all together this 500 piece test is costing $600 plus the time to put it all together and research it.

Goal is to generate at MINIMUM $5,000 monthly recurring PROFIT.

These all will ring to a special 800 number so I know every dollar that is generated through this mailer...I would think the phone will begin to ring from this starting Wednesday of next week.

Great update mate. I have a client who does offline mailings getting pre-qualified leads from the credit bureaus and they are spanking it. But the leads cost a lot of money this way.

Care to share how you get your leads (in a very generic way)?

All in house...we research and target. Spending the time to do it ourself generates much better data than paying someone...most companies just sell rehashed crap. If you want it done right, do it yourself :)

I'll keep it updated with any action that results from this mailing. Calls could start as early as Tuesday since some was local...but I expect the phone to start ringing from this Wed/Thurs.
