Off to the Philippines

I'm off to the Philippines in 10 days to basically run away from society.

I'll be working on my niche adsense websites, as well as bunch of other stuff. I'll hopefully do some product sourcing as well and dropship back to my buddy to sell in the US.

Any tips on how to use this to my advantage and make $$$$ or just have a blast?

If you have the know-how or have a solid system, just outsource the work so you can make $$$$ while having a blast!

A while ago I read a book by Timothy Ferris, the 4 hour workweek... he made millions by working only 30min a day and let other people do his work while he was enjoying life all around the world! Read that book while your in the plain, maybe you'll get some great ideas.

One, be careful with Manila or Cebu. Foreigners get ripped off all the time there. The cab drivers always rip off foreigners, so watch out for them. Watch out for pick pockets and snatchers too. Watch out for lady boys. Make sure you have medicine, just in case the food doesn't agree with your stomach. Don't wonder off into areas where there's extremest, because you'll increase your chances of being kidnapped. Just stay close to the cities. Don't stay more than 21 days, If you do they will detain you at the airport until you pay them to leave. If you do happen to stay over 21 days, talk to your countries consulate to extend your stay (So they wont detain you at the airport when you leave). Always carry enough pesos with you when you're at the airport. They make you pay to leave the country.

Other then that, it's a great country. Have fun!

Without any aims of being disrespectful, I think the US is sometimes a bit over the top with their advice.
It is true, and it cannot be denied, the Philippines might not be the safest place on earth; that being said, I don't think it is so dangerous to list it as the places not to visit.
At the end of the day, if you follow that advice you might miss a lot around the world; just like following cutts' advice on SEO.

For an ex-pat, Philippines is awesome. I moved here permanently in 2008.

No real way of taking advantage of it for $, if you're thinking of hiring an office of filipinos. You can hire an office of filipinos, but you'd be better off finding and interviewing them off the internet and having them be remote workers. You could have just as easily done that from the US.

I highly recommend Davao, but I'm living in the province now (rural area).

No offense but I both agree and disagree, agree because those two cities has high rates of criminal activities in the whole Philippines but I disagree because not all people there are going to rip your money off, kidnap you, bad food and there are thousands of foreigners lived there for how many years..

Well, I believe US warning on its citizen to not visit the Philippines is reasonable but it should only be pointed out to Mindanao area, particularly Southern Mindanao, where extremists are lurking in the mountain areas. Pick pockets and snatching are really common among large cities in the world, but contrary to the advice on the previous post, I would recommend to you choosing Cebu or Manila as they are the top must-visit cities here. If you are eyeing for beaches, go to Boracay (one of the finest in the world).

Phillipines is save. even in mindaneao there where no problems for a long time. to get killed in chicage is much more likely then having problems there.
just be careful with police ... they stop you all the time and look for a little tip. so take you papers with you and enjoy the fun there...

The above video was for a secluded part of the Philippines. Just like Hell's Kitchen isn't the whole of new york so is the place described there. The beaches in the Philippines have been rated number 1 several times by International Travel Magazines. Actually the Philippines has been rated as one of the best places in the "world" to invest because of it's growing market. Excellent place to outsource employees. Top rated as one of the best english speaking countries in asia you could find that almost everywhere you go people could understand english. The philippines has long been a hotspot for foreigners even during the 1600s when it was a colony of Spain. It has been a melting pot of several caucasian, hispanic, and asian countries because of it's placement in asia and the country being an archipelago. The Filipinos and Filipinas are very friendly and you would ussually find them smiling even during tough economic times. Some advice: if you have a sensitive stomach stay away from street food otherwise you'll be safe to eat almost everything in the restaurants.
