How do I employ people?

Blackhatworld is a great forum to earn money, but my parents and family don't just understand the whole Internet Marketing thing. I'm from India, and my parents still believe in earning the traditional way. So, even though I'm able to make a good income off Internet Marketing, I don't know what to say to my parents.

I'm in one of the most prestigious colleges of India now, so I have no problem now. But after my studies, my parents are either going to ask me to study further or get a job. But doing a job makes no sense to me, when I can earn a lot more in the IM world. (Indian jobs pay very less! 2000$ per month for an educated engineer is considered AWESOME here!). So no! I can't do a job. Further studies seems alright to me, but I have to be sure that it adds to my knowledge and helps me financially.I'll most probably do an MBA in the US.

But here's the problem. I have to tell me parents what I'm doing to earn money. If I tell them that I'm earning off the internet marketing products, they'll think I'm doing some kind of a scam. For Indian parents, Internet=SCAM. I know, many people would tell me to explain it to my parents. But frankly speaking, I dont want to do that. Because it's better to tell me parents that I'm the boss of some offline company than to tell them that I'm self-employed.

So just so that I can tell something to my family and friends, I've created a few startups. I earn a lot more individually than from the startups but the startups help me in branding myself. But then, I have no people working in the startups. All of them are freelancers and interns. I want some kind of an office and want to employ people. You know, I want to be a boss . So, what exactly should I do? How can I make a self-sustainable business that creates employment and a brand for myself. It doesn't have to get me any profit. It should be something that requires an office and professionals. I want educated people working under me

Even tho you live in a third-world country you're facing a major 'First-world problem".

Getting right to the point.
If you are making a good income online but you also want to appear successful offline then simply:

1- Get the offices
2- Hire young people with good computer skills and English

3- Make them work on whatever you're doing online! If you're already making money you don't have to create a brand new model to hire people simply engage them in whatever you're doing.
You can outsource the tiresome and boring jobs to them and concentrate on expanding your online success even further.

This way you'll be making an even better income online & you will have the title "boss" since people work for you.
Not to mention how happy your family will be.

I've learned most of the things on BHW. I've added a few twists, but still the information is available on the internet. Yes, most people don't do it, because they don't browse the internet as much. But, if I do tell them what I do exactly, they'll try to find out more information. And well, BHW does a good job on SEO. So, sooner or later, they'll just leave the job and become rivals. I want to do something that can be accomplished only by an organization. Something an individual just cannot do!

This quote suggests that your problem is less cultural and family than personal. No one can advise you what you should do but one option to consider is to stop taking pocket money from them and let them know what you do for a living. If you at less ashamed of it you might actual grow into being less ashamed. If you think it is a flat out scam then go do something else.

There are an unlimited number of options. Do what feels right.

"self-employed moron" and "earning loads of money" are rarely used in the same sentence.

You should stop taking money from your parents if you're earning good money. I can see why they are confused.

When I was 18 I was paying my own way working a real job 12 hours a day / 6 days a week and going to College 4 hrs a night. My parents were 1100 miles away and I never asked them for a dime after I moved out. I had my own apartment, my own car and all the bills that go with living on your own. I paid my own way through College (twice) getting student loans and repaying them after I graduated.

If you want people to believe you have solutions you better show them. To say you're earning good money online but letting everyone pay your bills is likely to confuse anyone.

Lastly, understand not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. It's a lot of fucking work, a lot of stress and a constant roller coaster ride. I've had times where I made 5 figures a week and times where I made 2 figures a week. Don't suggest your parents aren't understanding or ignorant. Maybe they know you're not entrepreneur material and steering you to what's best for you. Very few self-employed people can support themselves more than a couple years. When I was much younger, I used to say if you make it 5 years you probably have what it takes. I've been in the game now almost 25 years and I still wonder if I'll make it another year at times.

There is nothing wrong with working a real job and the best course of action for 95% of the people out there. It doesn't limit you but rather makes you stronger. There are some things you'll only learn working for someone else.

I am not doing any scam. But I'm not doing any professional work. And well you haven't been to India. I know how it is here. They'll think I'm an Internet Sales guy and well that's exactly what I am.
FYI, I have no problem now. I'm just thinking about what I'm going to do after college. Now, I'm alright and I'm not ashamed of anything. Both my parents are experienced doctors, and I don't think giving me pocket money is pinching them at all.

Well, I am also from the same country and understand your situation. I also started out at the age of 18 and my parent's didnt know what i was doing. But then you don't need to explain each and every detail to them. Study+Work and they should be fine with it. Once you do your graduation you can expand in this like crazy by hiring people etc.

Again, you dont need to showoff to anyone by opening an office and hiring people just for the sake of hiring. Just do what you like in your life. Don't worry what other think. You are still in a better position than your peers atleast who just waste their time on FB or Porn..

I am from India too. My parents have had the same thoughts too. I was always attracted to Internet and Programming. They would always see me awake night after night doing something on the computer. They even thought that I need a psychiatrist. But then, things changed dramatically after I got my first programming job. I started earning considerable money to show them. Slowly, I became someone that they wanted me to be. Now a days, they are proud about me and often tell me that they should have helped me out instead of criticizing me. I smile at them and say that whatever they did was enough

Now, my brother also wants to be a Programmer, and not a MBA guy..

Why did I tell you my story? To let you know that success changes everything. Earn money and soon, they will start understanding your profession.

You're exactly right. I'm not from India and I wasn't born into a family with money. My parents were dirt poor and could barely feed their 5 children at times. We all had jobs from the time we were 14 plus we had a ton of chores at home. We worked from sun up to sun down very early in life. I enjoyed school because it was the only break I got from real work.

I have no idea what it's like to be born with a silver spoon in my mouth. To be a grown man and have all my bills and education paid. Please ignore my previous comment. I have no clue about your world. My parents always respected me because I earned and paid my own way without asking them for anything. If they paid my way I'd do as they wished.
