Why do nearly all squeeze pages look bad?

Hi, I'm new to this forum! I must say, of all the forums I've been on, this one stands out in terms of respect to one another. +rep to you all.

So I've just made my first whitehat SEO niche blog, and I'm looking for ways to monetize it. I came across CB, and found that nearly every squeeze page feels like you're running into a hyper-enthousiastic and annoying sales guy. Why is the setting just as overwhelming as it was about 10 years ago?

Imo; people have become smarter when it comes to browsing the web. They know what to avoid, and what looks trustworthy. The SPs on CB are - overall - pretty obvious of being some sort of scam. I hope to find some normal looking sales page, because I haven't come across it yet.

Do you know why they still look the way they do? Are there exceptions and if so: where?

They all look the same haha. Apparently 15 pages of over enthusiastic selling works the best.

You can find many more in the warrior forum special offers. Some look a little better, but the style is generally similar. This is what works.

Thanks, I suppose it still has to work, otherwise there wouldn't be any SPs anymore In the meantime I did find a SP that looked quite sophisticated, so they do differ from eachother (luckily).

They might look bad, however they often contain the essential elements behind the psychology of a landing page.

Yea, even on Clickbank there are a few products that really do look professional.

What I hate is the unskippable video "presentations." The ones that invariably begin with "Stop everything your doing! Turn off the TV, unplug your phone, because in the next 15 minutes, I'm going to show you how to blah blah blah blah" Also, there is no checkout button. It only pops up after they watch the entire video. I had a product that was converting very well, until the vendor decided to change up his sales page to one of those videos. Sales plumetted. So screw it, I promoted someone else's product instead.

I think those hokey late-night informercial style squeeze pages still convert better than a video which must be watched all the way through before the visitor can go to checkout.

True, a video is often way too boring and long... Let people decide their own tempo by which they read the page.

I would really love to try to sell affiliate products but I'm a bit concerned that people who are interested in this niche are probably pretty handy with using the internet Damn... However, last year I caught myself being overwhelmed by the perfect site I thought I found, only to find out it was a SP in the end Lol.. there's still hope.

I wondered the same thing when I first stumbled across IM, but they do really work. It's kinda the same with magic tricks, people just don't care to research it so the same stuff keeps working.

completely agree with you, people are LAZY. You can tell them you are selling them an exclusive rock from Planet Niburu, create a few fake testimonials, hire actors to dress as aliens, and they will believe you. Internet Marketing tells you a lot about the mentality of society.

Seriously, once they get that first spaceship to Mars, people will actually start believing such a thing! It's true, there are a lot of lost souls who'll believe anything.
