To be honest, I have no idea how cookie stuffing actually works but wasn't eBay profiting from what Hogan was doing or was he just taking commissions from sales eBay would have otherwise got 100% of? If they were profiting, why did they stop him?

Thank goodness. Some of the conversations over at DP are so noobish and depressing to read. Before Hogan goes to prison, hopefully the new owner will name it DipShit Point instead. It's very fitting for many (not all) of the members that waste their lives away there. On the other side of the coin, I can understand those selling products/services liking that place. There's a bunch of noobs there with loads of cash in their wallets to take.

Well your basically stealing from the company as you did not really redirect the customer to product. So if ebay made 100 million you stole that 28m and they only got 72.

He would not have made 28 million purely though stuffing or they would have got him years ago.

They got him years ago. I think ebay affiliate program started around february 2008 and bit over year later they got him. Many people made more than 100k month from ebay like that when they didn't know about that at start.

Well might be i don't know all the details. But even if his friends would not have fucked him over don't you think they would have shortly caught him. I really doubt ebay would just have forgiven him for that 28mil.
Also he would not been doing it for long more either as at the time ebay started to ban everyone left and right with super low conversion rate and super high traffic. Unless ofcourse they had some secret deals. Also as i remember even some US members here got some physical letters from ebay about cssing
