I have seen a lot of really junky books popping up on Amazon lately all with nice covers and shit text. Come on people. Put some effort in or the bottom is going to fall out on this quick. If you cant write just use textbroker.com or something of the likes.

Can I ask how have made it "fuck-up-able"? I am #2 in a small niche, with a book that has no advertising, no affiliate links and a professionally designed cover? The book is also properly laid out with chapters, paragraphs etc
Once the free period is over, the book will be "sold" at the lowest possible price, to be honest, I doubt anyone will actually buy it. As I said, it is purely for the experience so that I don't fuck up the proper book I will be releasing once finished.
As far as I can see in this small niche, no-one from BHW is in this niche (a niche I am currently writing towards a large 50,000 word non-fiction tutorial that I plan to make money from - currently at 24,000 words). I know no-one is in the niche as no books have links, adverts or anything else in them (I have checked)

Mate, I can't actually figure out where to begin answering without feeling like I'm having to make an argument for the existence of gravity. So I'll just toss-out some bullet points. Where ever you see a question mark, the question is rhetorical.

- You do understand that people being offered free shit will download free shit... yes?
- You do understand the concept of "word of mouth" ... yes?

Yes, once again, this wasn't to "make money", it was to see how the system works so that I can make money in the future- You're not going to sell a mumbo jumbo book.
They said I couldn't sell cars with no sales experience, working for the UK's largest independent car dealership I proved them wrong by becoming the companies leading salesman 3 months in a row in my first 6 months! I'm a good salesman (and not big headed about it lol), but I haven't tried to sell this book, its a training guide for me to learn KDP- You have wasted your time. Time is money.
I used a program that I created during university that took me longer to upload the pdf than it took to actually write the book. Learning a new process (IMO) is not a waste of time, now I know I won't get it wrong when I am ready to publish- There is no black hatting KDP.
I'm not trying to, I am trying to learn and understand the process of how KDP works. I didn't want to jump in with my "real" book and get lost in the water- Waffles: I love dem shits.

Next time, I will use a different pen name, and I will use the help and tips explained in this thread (and other threads on BHW) to try and make it a success.
As I said, 1st attempt and I am at #2, imagine if I really put my time and effort into it

I've been thinking about publishing children kindle books.. well actually my girlfriend has written and illustrated a couple of children books in the past and she would like to give Amazon a try. How would you guys go about promoting this? Same way as other books?

There are tons of sites listed in my companion marketing book
But really, you aren't going to violate KDP Terms just by advertising. Throw up some links on twitter, blast FB, google "submit kindle books publishers" and you'll find a ton. Good luck!
