I have posted to your thread, but will also share the same info here for all my current and potential clients.
SOME YOUTUBE RANKING TIPS:
What many people probably do not realize is that the "Onpage SEO" is extremely important when it comes to ranking videos.
With that being said, let's get into it.
Video Title and Name
This isn't particularly difficult or time consuming, but extremely important that you always use each exploit to it's fullest extent.
So the format you looking for here would be: Video Name / Title that we are uploading - Keyword you are targeting.
For example, if your keyword is "Internet Security", you would name your video "Internet Security".
The better and more powerful method would be to do something like this: (again, keeping with our "Internet Security" example)
"Internet Security Review Internet Security"
You'll notice something here. If you use the correct "filler" keyword, you can target more than on keyword.
Now, my video title is optimized to target the following phrases, in the following order...
1- Internet Security
2- Internet Security Review
3- Review Internet Security
By thinking it through a bit, we are able to get multiple usage out of our title without ever risking that our title will be misunderstood or unclear to Google.
Video Description
Your video description needs to be keyword stuffed, relevant to the product, longer than the average description and there is a lot more to it than initially meets the eye.
For unknown reasons YouTube/Google will sometimes give preference to videos that have the primary keyword first and then the link right after it. So are examples.
Option 1 - http://www.mydomain.com - My keyword phrase the rest of my description.
Option 2 - My keyword phrase - http://www.mydomain.com the rest of my description.
The name of your account matters. This is a big one that most people are blind to. If possible, use your main keyword as your account name.
Group all of your videos for a specific project into the same account, however, when a product is having really strong sales make an account per keyword so that you can get even more exposure.
Try to do a direct redirect to the affiliate offer or wherever rather than having them land on a page in your site and click through from there. Obviously I don't know your niche, keywords and target market so this is just as an example.
For the actual description content, do this:
With a little tweak YouTube/Google does not give any penalty if your content is not original.
So what you do is simply go to the sellers webpage (or any page that is product related) and copy a good grip of the text on their page and use it as content for your descriptions.
So the format is like this:
1. Your initial couple of lines containing your link and some little call to action
2. Stripped content from the sellers webpage (or other source)
3. Another little blurb and call to action on bottom.
With the ripped content you simply rearrange a little bit by switching places with the paragraphs.
The last thing you can do is pepper your keywords throughout the ripped content in that middle section.
Tip:
If your selected keyword phrase already has videos on page 1, go ahead and strip all of their content and tags from those videos, then merge it all together and run it through a spinner. This makes it so that you are giving Google everything they could possibly ask for, and more. - And you spent seconds to achieve what those other guys likely spent a long time to achieve.
Video Tags
YouTube allows any single tag to be a maximum of 30 characters long, and a combined total of all characters (including spaces) in the tags area to be no more than 500.
For example, here are some tags I could use for "Internet Security Is Essential":
internetsecurity, internet-security, internetsecurityreview, internet-security-review, internet, is, essential, internet security is essential, etc.
The more tags you have in your description and tags section means more phrases your video is going to be listed on a page one Google result for. A single video landing a page 1 position on Google for a single keyword phrase is great, but a single video landing 17 Google page 1 positions for 17 different search phrases is even better! 17 is just an example, but you get me - right?
More tags = more opportunities for more Google page 1 positions.
The fastest and most powerful way to find more tags, is to do a youtube search for your main keyword, and then use the title of the top 10 videos as tags for your own video.
Social Proof
This is where you would get things like:
1. Views
2. Likes
3. Subscribers
4. Favourites
5. Comments
Bear in mind that people aren't stupid. If your video has no likes, no comments, no favourites, yet has 1 million views... that just screams DODGY.
So make sure, and I believe many people get this wrong, that you have an even spread of all these things for your videos.
Video Timing
Most people don't pay a lot of attention to video length, but for some keyword phrases Google and YouTube show preference to videos in a specific length range.
For example, if the video being displayed on Google is 7:24, and you look in YouTube results and the first 4-5 are ranging between 7:24 and 9:44 for example, yet your own video is only 1:23, and you see other videos listed under those top videos that are mainly shorter times (or longer) than those getting the top results... then delete your existing video (or re-tweak it to go for another search term) and then go add or deduct the appropriate time amount from your video and re-upload and tweak as usual.
There is no way to know which videos YouTube/Google does this on, so I just use it as a last effort sort of thing.
Backlinks
This is not my favourite thing in the world. To be honest, I HATE backlinking with a passion. There is nothing in this world I can think of, personally, that sucks as much as doing backlinking.
Ok, now that the rant is over... let me share a method I learned not too long ago that's pretty damn powerful.
This method of backlinking is by far the safest and most effective to me. We already know that Google treats YouTube differently than it treats other sites, and that makes it so that YouTube backlinks carry more weight with Google than virtually any other kind of backlink.
So, you can simply go create say 5 new YouTube accounts who's account names are keyword targeted to the video you are going to point backlinks at. Then in the profile section of each of those new accounts you will place a link to your target video.
Note: YouTube made me actually go to a G+ page and put my link in that profile rather than allowing me to post my link in what used to be the YouTube account profile section.
It's likely that they are rolling this change out so that they can tighten their grip on people in their efforts to completely remove any privacy level from the internet.
Protect your privacy. Never give them any of your real information.
They are strangers, and who would trust a stranger with their personal information? YouTube gives do-follow to profile links, so now you have just provided 5 ultra powerful and favored backlinks toward your target video, and this should cause your video to gain your desired positioning.
You can double this number by logging into a blogger account using the same login credentials you used to login to your youtube account. -
So, log into those blogger blogs, create a little post, and put a link in their to your target video too. - Now you'll have 5 youtube backlinks, and 5 blogger.com backlinks... awesome!
If this fails, try some Authority Links. For these backlinks you use a hand full of authority type of backlinks. You can go to fiverr.com and look at the link packages people are offering. For this method you would want to focus on contextual backlinks.
Anyway, I reckon I have covered most of the basics that people tend to overlook and I really hope it helps you out.
