The conclusion seems to be like the blog post which says there was some problem with the digg's robot.txt was true.
stop talking about Panda and Matt, guys. #11 post already pointed out that there is problem with Digg's robot.txt.
The OP is jumping to conclusions way too early.
How is it jumping to conclusions when a few hours ago it was a fact that Digg had no indexed pages in Google? Speculation on the cause maybe, but Google did toss Digg from its index this morning. I suspect someone at Google saw the flames quickly and said, oh shit, this is DIGG, we better fix this shit quick!
As far as the story coming out about someone at Google was trying to remove links and removed the site, OMG like Google has monkeys personally monitoring and pulling levers on websites manually.
The truth is nobody will probably ever know the truth but for sure Google does damage control when their algo penalizes sites that have a lot of influence. BBC and Digg are recent examples IMO.
We are given the opportunity to market on their search engine. This isn't a right, yet a privilege.
