Hello Designers,


I have just learned lots of things about photoshop and watched lots of tutorials and after that I have designed my first website which is below one. Please give me suggestions about wrong thing and how can I improve it?

After watching my design what you feel? Can I become designer?

Structure does look good but you may want to learn more about web 2.0 design. That design doesn't have any attractive effects, it's plain and simple, basic, clean. Learn more about fonts effect, different image effects (gradients).
 
Like Kimi said, study how web 2.0 sites are made. Learn color theory, Photoshop and grids. Good luck.
 
Well if it is your first ever design then its good.
But websites with this look, those days are gone. Nowadays every small business person needs very attractive sites.

Keep going and learn, one day you'll be a great web designer.

Simple and looks good, little adjustment to attract and it will be more good buddy.. Good luck, you have a good design..
 
It is a very simple design. So your skills cant be judged by that. Look around the web for pages you like, then try to make your design with your own style. And play with colors more. They have to be chosen wisely.

I'll be perfectly honest. It's ok but there are some problems with it.

The design esthetic here is "old school" and very simple. Simple and clean is good but you need to add gradients and shading effects. Now don't go crazy with those effects because then it looks cheesy. But you do need some effect and more use of color. Spot color especially.

With this kind of design, no, you couldn't be a web designer. Because this kind of look is outdated and would be something that is given away for free in a big pack of designs or templates.

Look around on the web and you can see some really great designs out there for FREE. So that means you need to bring something visually exciting and original to your work in order to do this professionally.

If you want to see some nice clean designs that do a lot of the things I'm talking about, just go to Google and type in "premium wordpress themes" (without the quotes) and follow any of the links that come up.

Don't think I'm trying to discourage you, I'm not. Just push yourself on the artistic side of things! Good luck!
 
A good design is a design that drives the user to what is intended on the site. That can be content and Ad placement or a call to action.

Understand the business and client first - then design what's needed.

It's a good start, but for your actual question "Can I be a Web Designer?" I would say the answer would be no! To be a Web Designer, you'd actually have to end up coding this site out to HTML/CSS. All you've done is create the mockup for the site in Photoshop. If your question was "Can I be a Graphic Designer?" then the answer would be yes, with more practice and research into new trends. Keep practicing in PS and I'd start learning to code HTML5/CSS3 (current web standards) if you want to become a WEB Designer! :)
 
Hey keval007, your page looks decent, but you don't want to settle for that. You have to make sure your site will look fresh and modern. You already have a good grasp of the basics, you just have to learn to design currently.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I already know HTML, CSS and slicing from PSD to HTML. I didn't know how to make designs in photoshop.

Everyone can be, you just need practice. It is good design for first design. Follow the trend of designs, and learn how to make the same designs as the trending desings.

dude.. just go to themeforrest.net and spend $30 on themes instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. Custom design work should be $xxxx.xx and you dont have the skills for that.

Brutally honest. Not being a dick.

New design is good !!! :)
But you can add some more features and make it more attractive using some animations and flash.
And also you have used too many div so it seems to be scattered. So try to combine these.
