I posted a similar thread but got only a couple responces. I tried changing the title but couldnt so have started another, sorry for the inconvenience.

Basically I am toying with the idea of selling pirate dvds. My job is under threat and am now currently taking home half of my usual income. Anyway, I know a couple of suppliers I could take orders from online and take a percentage. The problem is Im not sure where I could advertise safetly or create new customers?
The dvds are mainly movies, adult, ufc, games, etc. If anyone could me any sites, ideas or advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Believe me I wouldnt be doing this if I wasnt desperate and worried about losing my home and providing for my family.
Cheers

Sure you can, if you didnt want to see your family for a while. Your talking big jail time.

Totally understand bro...when things get tough...u have to do what u have to do, especially when it comes to losing your home, with your family....I find most people here besides for a few...don't have the GUTS! to swat at a fly...much less put there freedom at risk for there family...shoot me a PM...I sold replicas for 3 years..did rather well also.

I agree selling pirated Movies, purchasing and reselling chinese cracked video games, computer software (e.g windows os, etc etc.) and basically anything along those lines is asking for serious trouble. Selling trademarked products like hairstraighteners or items that are less likely to get you caught, would be far easier and less likely to result in a lawsuit for violation trademark infringment laws. Its just to risky. Leave it to the chinese....Way easier ways to make money. Good luck though whatever u decide to do. Hope that helped, if anything do your research first, and weigh the benefits with the consequences, Its like spamming myspace, if you can make 8 mil and get sued for 1-2 mil, then hell ya why not do it, but not when your looking to make a few thousand, and risk getting sued for thousands if not millions. Making a quick buck isn't always the smarted route, especially if its highly illegal

I would definitely not do sell anything pirated (download yes :). The feds will make an example of you and rather quickly.

Yes . . . I have to agree with the other members who have posted on this thread. Giving away pirated stuff is one thing, but selling pirated stuff can get you into a hell of a lot of trouble. Why? . . . Because you can be traced through whatever payment system you are using - whether it's Paypal, checking account, your physical address, PO Box, etc. . . . You will be leaving a trail.

Not A Good Idea.

do this locally and sell only to your friends if you to start this kind of business.

make sure that enough people are doing this in your area so you can blend in with them.

Police doesn't care if people download a movie or have some illegal programs on their PC... They only care at the point you try selling it and then they are suddenly very quick at your door.

markprendy the question is which country you are in? In my country pirated movies are sold openly everywhere and noone cares.

I got busted for long ago and the fines were as much as 100K per occurrence and 5 yrs, I'm in the US.. didn't serve any jail time (lucky) but completely broke me... just don't the risk is not worth the crap you go through.

Only do this with friends and people in your area as the police won't mess around with locking you up or sending threat letters to your door.

And even if you do it locally don't mess around and don't go telling everyone has they are a lot of people who are connected to the police and higher up.

Anyways i have given you my advise.

I use to buy Pirated DVD's from a local indoor Flea Market from this really cool dude for like $5 a pop, the quality was excellent, and he even had the nice covers and shit to go with the DVD. One Saturday morning, I'm in there and it look like Feds or something was packing up all his shit. This guy had like 4 long tables stacked up with movies, and I asked on of his "table neighbors" what happened, and they said he got caught by the Gov.

Then I go back a couple of weeks later, and I asked a few people if they knew what happen to him, and they said he's getting like 5+ years of Prison time, plus he's getting sued by 3 of the top major Studios.

Dude probably made BANK, but in the end... he's fucked like you wouldn't believe. He was a really cool guy too.

I wouldn't sell pirated ones (the Feds WILL get you, it's not worth it), but for a while, I used to do pre-order DVD sales on eBay, then the week of release, I'd buy a bunch from Wal-Mart (back then, they always sold DVDs at $13-$15 on release week). I'd sell them for $22 total on eBay. I'd clear about $200-300 a week, but, it was TOO much work packing, labeling and shipping all those bad boys. That plan might still work, but the margins are getting too narrow (at least for me).

@lewi
i like your idea of making money!

But i doubt this would work as most kids will tell you where to go which usually ends up with the middle finger here in the uk. But yeah it was easy to make money at school back in the days. :P

Years ago I was on the way back from London when I bumped into a friend of mine who told me about this market in Bishop Stratford I believe. Basically everyone was openly selling pirated games, DVDs, cigarettes and what looked like stolen goods such as PCs and laptops. It was a big market with thousands of people walking around and nobody seemed to mind. In fact, I saw a few police cars cruising around and minding their own business. I still don't have a clue how people got away with this but I assume they did because one of the guys been selling there for years apparently.

It's not worth it. The market is flooded and if you actually become successful it will not be long before you are getting letters from law firms. There are easier ways of making money online.

Selling bootleg DVD's or any other intellectual property isn't blackhat...it's just plain illegal and you may find yourself paying restitution or having a new roommate named 'Bubba' that has a fetish for fresh blackhatter fish :yield:

Yeah you are really going to have a hard time providing from your family when your behind bars. You better make sure you put enough aside to hire the lawyers you will eventually need. I have had some dealings with pirated software and some people I knew went to prison. I got sued for 1.2 million and that was no fun and the lawyers are not cheap. While you are going through the process they threaten you will all kinds of evil things that they are going to do to you and you don't know for sure what is going to happen until its all over.
